IMO, if Real Madrid put up a realistic offer - 50m quid plus he'll go. Apparently they've offered to pay him a ridiculous amount of coin. Wish I could dig up the article saying just how much.

Personally, I hope he stays in the prem league as I really want to see him play at Old Trafford later this year!!!

Scolari has just been named as the new coach of Chelski - taken from the UEFA website:

"Just a few hours after his Portugal team had defeated the Czech Republic in Geneva to set up qualification for the quarter-finals of UEFA EURO 2008™, Luiz Felipe Scolari was named as the new manager of Chelsea FC – a role that the Brazilian will take up on 1 July.

Club statement
Chelsea issued a statement on Wednesday night saying: "Chelsea Football Club is delighted to confirm that Luiz Felipe Scolari will be the club's new manager from July 1, 2008." A FIFA World Cup winner with Brazil in 2002, Scolari has held the reins of the Portugal team since 2003 and led them to the final of UEFA EURO 2004™ and the last four of the 2006 World Cup. Scolari's contract was due to end at the conclusion of the EURO and the hope of Portugal fans now is he will sign off with a flourish by guiding his team to their first European crown."

I don't reckon Ron will go to Real, YET (lol although this could well come back to bite me on the clack) ... He'll be a Manc for at least another year imho.

Quiet on here for the last few days. I suspect transfers will take a back seat to Euro for the next couple of weeks.

Anyhoo, the EPL fixture list is out for 2008/09 today, but unfortunately, the English press has a monopoly over the publication of it until Wednesday I think, so we can't reproduce it here. Anyway, from Spurs perspective it's a toughish start then a good run against the newbies.

Secondly, just gotta mention how pumped I am with Spurs signing of Luka Modric for 23m quid, which is a shiteload - the MOST Spurs have ever forked out for a player, but he comes with great raps and is looking very handy for the Croats at Euro.

Would love to hear everyones thoughts about their teams draw for the next season - EXCEPT yours RM as the Red Devils may as well be presented the trophy now!!!!!!!

Andrei Arshavin (although has declared his priority is Barcelona)
Shay Given (at one stage but now likeely to stay at Newcastle)
And some other bloke ... El Nasri perhaps? Were also linked with Kolo Toure's brother at some stage ... You would have to think the transfer talk will really heat up once Euro is out of the way.

Has anyone heard any stories about the EPL considering implementing a compulsory homegrown element in the next few years to ensure each club has at least 5 English players in their squad?

Not just EPL C_P. New directive by Sett Blatter of FIFA who is proposing that within all leagues each club must have at least 5 players from that leagues counrty.

Won't happen though, as Euro discrimination laws about threedom or movement for workers, will put the kybosh on it. Blatter is determined to try and push it through tough with a "damn the consequences" attitude. Even it it is voted in through FIFI or UEFA, the European Court of Human Rights will simply outlaw it and it will either die a death or FIFA / UEFA will find themselves up before the beak.

McDonald from Dundee to Burnley £500k.
Also the Peruvian Nationisl Team goalkeeper (Puvic or something like that) to Burnley dependant on getting a work permit.
Also Albanian striker / winger Besart (lovingly known in these parts as Borat)who signed last year but has been injured all of last season, will be fit and ready for this season, so that's like getting a new player.

Geez if they sign him they will have a half decent side next year. They have already captured the very impressive Modric (before the Euro too which probably saved them a couple of mill), now they want to sign Podolski?! He would do well in the EPL I reckon.
