Hmmmmm Not sure about this decision. His dad was an absolute tosser (imho). Destroyed the Clarets in the 80's, and we nevered recovered.

New Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has brought in Kevin Bond to his coaching team at White Hart Lane.

Redknapp has wasted little time in reshuffling the coaching staff at White Hart Lane following his shock switch from Portsmouth over the weekend.
Spurs decided to axe Juande Ramos, sporting director Damien Comolli and first-team coaches Gus Poyet and Marcos Alvarez late on Saturday night following their worst-ever start to a season.
Bond has a long associaton with Redknapp having worked with him at Portsmouth and Southampton.

Would be a good pick up if he decides to go there.

Sherwood weighs up Spurs offer

Tim Sherwood admits he is considering an offer to return to Tottenham Hotspur as part of new manager Harry Redknapp's coaching staff.
Redknapp revealed earlier on Monday that the former Spurs midfielder has been sounded out for a position on his backroom team at White Hart Lane.
Ex-England international Sherwood made in excess of 100 appearances during a four-year spell at Spurs before being signed by Redknapp for Portsmouth in 2003.
Sherwood is yet to decide if he wants to get back into football, but the 39-year-old concedes a return to Tottenham is a tempting proposition.

Also thanks to a busy Sky News

Pompey in hands-off warning

Portsmouth are ready to resist any approaches from former boss Harry Redknapp for their top stars.
Redknapp left Fratton Park on Saturday, before being installed as the new manager at Tottenham on Sunday.
He is now expected to raid his old club for their prized assets, with the likes of Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Sylvain Distin and Lassana Diarra all tipped to join their former mentor at White Hart Lane.
Pompey chairman Peter Storrie accepts there is little the South Coast club can do to prevent Redknapp from enquiring about players, but insists he will do all he can to ensure there is no mass exodus to the capital.

I just love this journolism. Even if it does highlight Harry's "not so good side".

Thanks to the Guardian.

'OORAY FOR 'ARRY REDKNAPP

You won't catch me dredging up loads of 'Arry Redknapp quotes from recent months in which the new Totten'am 'Otspur manager waxes lyrical about 'ow 'appy 'e is at Portsmouth, 'ow it will definitely be 'is last job in football and 'ow it just wouldn't be right for him to leave because 'e feels 'e owes Pompey a debt and 'as to pay vem back. There are a number of reasons for this reticence on our part, the main one being that it would involve effort, which the crack team of finely tuned BS-detectors at football365 were good enough to have their readers exert long before we rolled out of bed this afternoon.

The fact of the matter is that, having established Portsmouth as a Premier League force to be reckoned with, won the FA Cup and overseen the relegation of Southampton to the Championship during his time at Fratton Park, 'Arry doesn't owe the south-coast club a thing. What's more, with massive bucks on offer to restore Tottenham's status as a mid-table side with delusions of grandeur, he'd have been stone-hatchet mad to turn down such a lucrative gig.
"It is brilliant to have an English manager," whooped Ledley King without injuring himself, less than 24 hours after fulfilling his duties as club captain by describing his then boss, the Spaniard Juande Ramos, as "a good manager" who Spurs players were "confident" could "change things". Of course when Ledley says he's confident 'Arry can change things you get the feeling he actually means it and all the evidence to date - a home win over Bolton, whoopity-doo! - suggests he's right.

But before Spurs players and fans completely lose the run of themselves, your tea-timely harbinger of doom thinks it's worth noting that the last time a struggling Premier League side with a nickname beginning with the letter S parachuted 'Arry in to save them from relegation, he appointed his boy Jamie to help him, failed, then left them in the lurch. With betting exchanges already offering odds against Redknapp replacing himself as Portsmouth manager (OK, they're a long 228-1, but probably a lot shorter than those available for Micky Adams, Bryan Robson or Dvd O'Lry), it seems history could be about to repeat itself. Today's Lahn's Lahn E'n'n' Stannah reports that "Redknapp's son Jamie could also be joining the staff" at Spurs.

I'm not sure about Dim Sherwood. He loves to sink the boot into Spurs. His rants on the box drive me insane. It could be that he shares the same frustration at Spurs inadequacies as us fans do and vents in a more public arena, or he could actually really hate Spurs. It's the latter that worries me if he does take a role with Arry.

OK, here are some very amusing quotes for Arry:

"Even when they had Moore, Hurst and Peters, West Ham's average finish was about 17th. It just shows how crap the other 8 of us were"

"Dani is so good-looking I don't know whether to play him or f*ck him"

"Hartson's got more previous than Jack the Ripper"

"Samassi Abou don't speak the English too good"

"By the look of him he [Ian Dowie] must have headed a lot of balls"

“Everyone f***ing jumps all over you. They don't care Michael Carrick's just 19. When he gave the ball away the other week there was 20000 people ****ing him off. He give a bad ball and they are all f***ing "weeerrrr".”

"Where are we in relation to Europe? Not far from Dover"

"I tape over most of them [player promotional videos] with Corrie or Neighbours. Most of them are crap. They can f***ing make anyone look good. I signed Marco Boogers off a video. He was a good player but a nutter. They didn't show that on the video."

“When I saw the referee put that whistle to his mouth I can't tell you how fantastic that felt for me. It was like winning the pools.”

"It's like being on the Titanic and seeing there's only one lifeboat left."

“He can say exactly what he thinks of the job I've done. It's a million per cent not a problem for me.”

“If I said I'd go back now I'd be crucified - that's all I need”

"What are they going to do, shoot me? It's not war you know."

"I sorted out the team formation last night lying in bed with the wife. When your husband's as ugly as me, you'd only want to talk football in bed"

“Van Persie obviously thought 'Why take the p*** out of poor old Southampton? I'll get sent off and make a game of it'.”

“The sad part is that the ones who do well want to go, but you cannot move the ones who are useless,”

I left a couple of my foreigners out last week and they started talking in "foreign". I knew what they were saying: "Blah, blah, blah, le b****** manager, f****** useless b******!"

"I got a fantastic reception from the crowd here at Upton Park - and why shouldn't I? Now I'm looking forward to getting one off the wife. Reception I mean. I'm too old for all that kind of stuff."

Journalist: 'Have you received any death threats?' Harry Redknapp: 'Only from the wife when I didn't do the washing up'

Football Commentator : What do you put your success down to this year?
Harry Redknapp : It’s a different team

Well, I thought they were funny...

Tottenham will try to sign Cardiff's midfielder Joe Ledley when the transfer window opens in January.

The 21 year old midfielder is allready a full Welsh international with 24 caps allready. He is at the moment playing well with Cardiff in their race for promotion.

Tottenham manager Redknapp is ready to splash the cash he gets and to get Ledley he needs around £8 million.

Cardiff manager David Jones will do what he can to keep Ledley until the end of the season and secure a place in the top flight for Cardiff.

RM will be gutted, but he's been playing well, so someone will snap him up. Might as well be us Yids.

Little Gio has been left out of the squad for the last couple of games due to form and his age apparently. It's a little unfortunate for the young fella, but he hasn't taken to the game as quickly as had been hoped. when he's on the ball he looks amazing running at defenders and tearing down the wing, but his final ball needs to improve and he needs to be doing better work in the box.

He's very similar in many ways to Lennon and Modric and both of those guys have been tearing it up for us of late.

So at this stage, I think Arry will bring Gio into the Cup squads and use him as a sub predominantly, which will hopefully help his confidence. IMO if he can nick a goal in one of his next couple of appearances, he'll hopefully be back pushing for a League recall.

It's been the David Bentley show for the last couple of weeks mate. You should have seen his Sky interview after the Gooners game - hilarious! And he's taken over from Keano as the teams yido victory jig leader.

Thank for that DA, saw the Liverpool game and thought that in the end Keane going off and Lennon on for us changed the game and Bentley's shot on goal at the end was again top shelf and triggered the goal. We only got any control of the game in the last 15 minutes but that was enough to win.
All these late goals only reminds of how many goals we conceded last season in extra time. I guess it evens up in the long run.

Can you explain the yido victory jig and its history ? I assume this happens in the rooms after the game.

Too right, we need a heck of a lot more to even up all the extra timers we shipped last season!

The Yido victory jig is where the fans jump up and down and pump their fists up and down. I can't find a good you tube vid, but if you saw the Arse game, Bentley did it after the game, and also did the same after the Liverpool game. An Aussie mate (who's not into football) used to call it the train driver dance because it looks like when a train driver pulls the whistle cord.

Also, Robbie (no goals since I left Tottenham) Keane used to do it a lot and did it on 4-5 occasions at Wembley after the Carling Cup win.

The ugly side of European football.

Thanks to The Mirror

Spurs face fine for UEFA Cup tie crowd trouble

Tottenham could be in trouble with UEFA after Dinamo Zagreb fans lit flares at the away end of White Hart Lane.
Supporters of the Croatian league leaders clashed with stewards and fans in the first half of the UEFA Cup defeat to Spurs, and there were five arrests for public-order offences on the night.
UEFA, Europe's governing body, will wait for the report of the match delegate before deciding if Spurs will be punished, with a fine being most likely if they take action.
The Football Association, meanwhile, are looking at recent incidents involving Spurs fans during domestic games, including the abuse Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell suffered when he faced his former club.

Maybe Zagreb should play their next home game at Elizabeth Oval

Atletico Madrid had their racism conviction overturned so the Yid Army belting a few Croats into line will hopefully be chucked straight out.

By all accounts, the Yids on a Spurs forum are saying that there were no problems and aren't sure what all the fuss is about.

And the flare was funny. The commentators were hating it! There was a thick fog in London last night :D :D

I guess Uefa has to follow their procedures, especially when the game involves an English side

Agree with most of what you say DA. I wasn't making a comment just reporting what was in the press.

From what I saw, it was all the Croats anyway and to be honest, I'm not sure why Spurs should get penalised when the away fans play up.

I guess the argument will be, that the Spurs security should have stopped the flares getting in and then dealt with the situatoin better.

And I guess on this they may have a point. Spurs is a big club and they should have better security. I went to Wolves yesterday and we (all the away fans) were searched, all womens bags wer searched and metal detectors were used. You had to show modiles, keys etc and they did a quick search of your pockets.

I don't know what the procedure is for Spurs but there is no way you would have got through the Wolves security with flares imo.

Questions for DA or JTC.

Just on the Spurs and probably not in line with the thread, but my boss is a avid Spurs man. Even has a membership etc.
He is also a member of Bayern Munich. Anyhow he's going to Germany for 5 weeks over Xmas/New Years to go to a Bayern game
and buy as much merchandise as possible.

The other day he mentioned he was hoping of finding some Spurs gear whilst in Germany as he can't make it too England.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but what would the chances of him finding any Spurs gear in Germany be ? I told him he has no
hope. He asked why ? I mentioned that World War 1 & 2 may have something to so with it....

He didn't understand where I was coming from !

So DA or JTC...is there any chance he'll find some gear over there ?
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

I think it's more of a case of, are Spurs big enough?

Jabber, you can go into most sports shops across Europe and they will be selling Man U, Chavski, Arsenal, Liverpool, Celtic, Rangers and of course Bunley replica shirts.

It's about business and a world wide fan base.

got to abmit I have seen a few shops in southern Europe selling Spurs tops but not nearly as many who sell the big 4.
