Round Up

Holders Portsmouth avoided an upset at Ashton Gate where they booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Bristol City 2-0.
Tony Adams' side applied some early pressure and should have gone ahead after 34 minutes but David Nugent could only hit a post from close range after some good work from Peter Crouch down the right.
Pompey broke the deadlock four minutes later, however, when Crouch beat a host of City defenders to turn home an Armand Traore cross - although it looked like the striker had handled the ball in the Pompey box in the lead up to the goal.
Niko Kranjcar put the game beyond doubt before David James saved a Nicky Maynard penalty late on.

Wolves recorded their first win at St Andrews for almost eight years as they put in a solid performance to beat Midlands rivals Birmingham 2-0.
Wanderers had not won in three prior to the match but took the lead seven minutes before the break when Andrew Keogh raced onto a Michael Kightly through-ball to slot past
Maik Taylor.
Sam Vokes then doubled Wolves' advantage shortly after the break when he latched on to a Kightly pass just inside the area and finished from close range to book a fourth-round tie with Middlesbrough.

West Brom progressed as they defeated Peterborough 2-0 at London Road.
Traffic congestion delayed kick-off by 15 minutes but on-loan Jay Simpson's first Baggies goal gave the visitors the advantage after 18 minutes when he smacked a 25-yard drive past Joe Lewis.
Paul Robinson then doubled the Barclays Premier League side's advantage just before the break when he glanced a downward header past Lewis from a Do-heon Kim cross.

Sheffield United survived a first-half scare to breeze past Coca-Cola League One side Leyton Orient 4-1 at Brisbane Road.
JJ Melligan gave Orient a shock lead from the spot after 38 minutes before United hit back through Greg Halford and Billy Sharp.
Kyle Naughton's second senior goal put the Blades 3-1 up before Halford sealed the win with a header 12 minutes from the end.

United will face Charlton in the next round after Darren Ambrose's goal helped them beat Norwich 1-0 at Carrow Road to register their first win in 19 matches.

Swansea will play Portsmouth in the next round after they ran out 2-1 winners at Bridge Road despite a spirited effort from non-league Histon.
The Swans broke the deadlock with a 25-yard screamer from Gorka Pintado before Guillem Bauza added a second.
The Blue Square Premier side sensed a way back in to the game when they pulled one back through Josh Simpson but could not find an equaliser.

Millwall set up a fourth-round tie with either Newcastle or Hull as they beat Crewe 3-2 at Gresty Road.
Crewe took the lead through Luke Murphy but were immediately pegged back by a Scott Barron strike before Neil Harris restored the visitors' lead - and broke Teddy Sheringham's club scoring record.
Shaun Miller broke free in the box to put Crewe level with a right-foot strike shortly afterwards before Zak Whitbread's header put the Dons through with four minutes left.

Cheltenham and Doncaster will replay after playing out a goalless draw at Whaddon Road.

Jay Rodriguez struck in the last minute of extra-time to give Burnley a 2-1 win over Championship counterparts QPR at Turf Moor.
The sides went into the additional period after Steven Thompson had cancelled out Samuel
di Carmine's opener for QPR 15 minutes into the second half.
Heidar Helguson had a chance to put Rangers through five minutes before the end of time added on but his shot was parried by Brian Jensen.
The match looked set for penalties before Damion Stewart's mistake allowed Rodriguez to break free, slot past Radek Cerny and set up a fourth-round tie with Premier League side West Brom.

Bit late but here are Wed 14th replays

Results

Crystal Palace 2 Leicester 1
Newcastle 0 Hull 1
Southend 1 Chelsea 4

Round Up

Chelsea survived a first-half scare to book their place in round four of the FA Cup by beating Coca-Cola League One Southend 4-1 at Roots Hall.
Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari had gone into the match under pressure following his side's 3-0 mauling at Manchester United last weekend - and they went behind again after 16 minutes when Adam Barrett headed home a Junior Stanislas cross.
The Shrimpers almost doubled their advantage 38 minutes in when Petr Cech did well to save Alex Revell's point-blank header.
Chelsea hit back on the verge of half-time when Michael Ballack took advantage of a mix-up between Peter Clarke and Southend goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall to strike a sweet half-volley into an empty net.
Salomon Kalou then raced down the right and cut inside to fire past Mildenhall to put Chelsea ahead on the hour.
Nicolas Anelka sealed the win after 78 minutes when he broke free inside the box to pick up Kalou's cross and score to set up a fourth-round tie with Ipswich - before Frank Lampard bagged the fourth goal with a 12-yard strike in injury time.

Daniel Cousin struck 10 minutes from time to put Hull through to the fourth round with a 1-0 win at Newcastle.
The main talking point of the first half came in the 22nd minute when managers Phil Brown and Joe Kinnear were sent to the stands after they squared up to each other on the sidelines following Fabricio Coloccini's tackle on Cousin.
Nicky Butt hit the bar before the break, and Michael Owen was denied by an excellent save from Matt Duke soon afterwards.
Hull had rarely threatened but booked a fourth-round tie Millwall with 10 minutes left when Cousin tapped into the empty Newcastle net, after Shay Given had blocked Richard Garcia's shot.

Crystal Palace set up a fourth-round tie with Watford, beating Leicester 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
Leicester applied all the early pressure. But it was Palace who took the lead seven minutes before the break when Paul Ifill's scuffed shot from the edge of the area deflected off Andy King past David Martin.
Substitute Sean Scannell added Palace's second 10 minutes into the second half when he was played through by Alan Lee and slotted past Martin, under pressure by several Leicester defenders.
Leicester pulled one back through Max-Alain Gradel - but it proved to be only a consolation.

1/15. Wouldn't you rather your lot and Millwall get through, so the ICF and the Bushwhackers can beat the piss out of each other? ;)

There would be some pretty strong feelings at a WHU v Sheff U game. Most abuse coming from Blades fans.

So big Arry is bringing a weak squad to Old Trafford or as he said"real mish mash" on the weekend for the FA cup, concentrating on the game against stoke in the league. Probably not a bad idea considering the position they are in. Should suit Manchester with their big list of injury concerns, hope Tevez can put in a big game and give Sir Alex no choice but to finally sign him up.

Some headlinie results: Full results, round ups to follow.

Swansea win at holders Pompey 2 - 0. Dyer (ex Burnley loan) and Scotland scorers
Donny hold Villa 0 - 0 will reply 4th Feb
Clarets get a 2 - 2 draw at WBA. Patto scores in the 89th minute to take Baggies to a reply. Date TBC.
Kettering went down 4 - 2 to Fulham although they were 2 - 2 after 85 mins. 2 late goals for the Cottagers sealed it.

As Skysports referred to the Clarets as "the curse of the Premiership". This season we have done very well if you take results over 90 minutes.

W 1 - 0 Home Fulham
D 1 - 1 Away Chelsea
W 2 - 0 Home Arsenal
L 1 - 4 Away Spurs
W 3 - 0 Home Spurs
D 2 - 2 Away WBA

3 wins, 2 draws and a loss ain'y a bad record for anyone playing in the EPL, when you consider 3 away games, and include Chelsea and Arsenal.

United ended up winning 2-1. Good win after trailing so early and great to see Berbatov score the winner from a tidy finish.

I beg to differ. That scummy piece of crap.

Michael Carrick was the key man for Utd imo. 2 assists and bossed play all night.

I wish Arry would stop dicking about with transfer links to 3rd rate strikers like Kenwyn Jones and totally un-rated strikers like Bellamy and bloody buy Tevez for 30m. He's worth every penny.

I found it weird that Utd fans only sung for about 5 minutes after going in front. Then I remembered that it's Old Trafford - the place Mancunians often mistake for the establishment they are to return their borrowed books.
