FOXES SNAP UP GOALKEEPER WARNER

League One leaders Leicester have agreed to sign goalkeeper Tony Warner on a one-month loan from Premier League outfit Hull.

The 34-year-old is set become the sixth different keeper to stand between the sticks for the Foxes this season.

Warner could make his Leicester debut against Millwall on Saturday, the club for whom he made 200 appearances, if he gets clearance from the Football League.

Foxes boss Nigel Pearson said: "Tony has got stacks of experience and I am delighted that we have been able to bring him on board. We lost Dave Stockdale to a shoulder injury on Wednesday night and you just have just got to deal with these situations when they arise. Tony has played at the highest level and will be an excellent addition to our squad."

Good start for Warner a clean sheet and a couple of really good saves vs. Millwall on Saturday.

I watched the highlights this morning Drebin. Tough place to go and get a result, but it looks like the Foxes have quickly recovered form their hiccup.

Thngs are getting tighter at the top of League 1, as Leicester falters.

Thanks to the Sporting Life

PEARSON BLASTS REFEREE AFTER DRAW

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson vented his fury at referee Michael Oliver after the Foxes faltered once again in the race for automatic promotion.

The League One leaders were ahead 2-1 against Carlisle in injury-time when Oliver appeared to be about to whistle for a Carlisle infringement inside the Leicester penalty area.

Leicester's defenders expected to be awarded a free kick and stood off, but instead the referee changed his mind and allowed play to go on for Scott Dobie to take advantage and convert Michael Liddle's cross with a free header.

The 2-2 draw sees the Foxes' lead over second-placed Peterborough reduced to just two points.

Pearson raged: "I asked the referee about it and he didn't even have the courtesy to look me in the eye. It was a good performance and I felt we did enough to win the game but I am disappointed to drop two points so late on.

"We had enough chances to win - there was only one team out there trying to win, and that was us. Other sides are having better runs than us at the moment, but I'm very, very confident we'll see the job through."

We are choking big time! We are even in danger of missing an automatic promotion spot FFS! It is almost unbelievable when you consider about 4 weeks ago we were 12 points clear on top and 15 clear of third!

Typical Leicester - they must hate us suppporters!

Correct pidge. The champions obviously go up, then the next four fight it out in the play off's. Same rules as the other leagues.

It depends how many games each team has already played Pidge. But they all have to play 46 in the season, so you can work it out for yourself mate.

Sorry Drebin, I think it is my fault. Last time I updated the results thread, I think the Foxes were 12 points clear.

I updated it this week and they at least got a draw (unlucky not to take all 3 points by all accounts, but you do have to play to the whistle at the end of the day), and I will try to be a bit more regular going forward so they should be ok ;)

Probably not of much interest to many out there, but Stanley is my 2nd club. (if there is such a thing). I was born in Accrington and used to follow them when the Clarets were playing away.

Players charged over gambling

FA takes action over Accrington v Bury match

The Football Association has charged five players with breaching betting rules ahead of Accrington's match against Bury last season.

Bury beat Accrington 2-0 in their final League Two game of 2007/8 and the players concerned have been charged with betting on a Shakers victory.

Four players then at Accrington - Jay Harris, David Mannix, Robert Williams and Peter Cavanagh -and Andrew Mangan, who was at Bury, are the individuals at the centre of the controversy.
Both Harris and Cavanagh played in the game, while all five face serious sanctions including the possibility of long suspensions if the charges are proven.

An FA statement said: "All five are alleged to have placed bets on Bury to win this match. Mannix is alleged to have placed stakes to the value of approximately £4,000; Mangan £3,500; Harris £2,000; Williams £1,000; and Cavanagh on a £5 accumulator."

The FA was alerted after bookmakers in the North West reported unusual betting patterns in the lead-up to the match with higher than usual amounts being staked in particular areas of the country.

Harris, who is now registered at Chester alongside Mannix, has also been charged in relation to betting on a game involving his new club and another two League Two fixtures.

Cavanagh has also been charged with further breaches in relation to his betting on another Accrington match in which he played and on a number of other League Two matches.

Under FA rules, players, managers or coaching staff are prohibited from betting on the result or progress of any match or competition in which the participant is participating or has any direct or indirect influence.

Stingy goal??? You must be joking!

Still the winners can grin and the losers can please themselves (and start to prepare for another season in Div 3 maybe!)

Stingy goal indeed. 92nd minute FFS

The game deserved a 0-0 draw. Leicester had a fair amount of possession, whilst Leeds hit the bar twice.

Big, big result for the Foxes, should just about see them home this year. the only question is will they make it back as champs or just promotion.

As for Leeds, it look like they might have to settle for a p/o spot, but with their current form and a huge fan base shouting them on, they have a better then even chance of joining the Foxes in the CCC in my opinion.

shame the Clarets won't be there to take them on next year ;)

**** have 2 games in hand so we arent certainties for p/o's yet. Hope we get in there and make an impact.

I watched Leeds for the first time in a few years the other night against Leicester. Sodje looked really solid in defence. Was a shame i didnt get to see Beckford in action. Hopefully he is fit and firing for the next month or so.
