I think it was a bit stupid of Rafa to do that. It is like Keegan's rant many years ago while managing Newcastle and they fell in a heap and choked the title.

He's pretty much saying what most believe to be correct anyway ... Although similar comments could be thrown toward Wenger.

When Liverpool lose the title it wont be through falling in a heap imho, it will be more a case of simply not being the best, which most pundits believe anyway.

Just because most people believe it to be correct doesn't mean he had to say it in public. ;)

Also I can't believe some Liverpool fans. You lot have played the best football of any side this season and you are starting 09 in top spot, yet most supporters are writing them off for the title. If you had a decent striker up front instead of that hack Keane you would probably be further in front.

Im not writing them off, Ive said elsewhere they're not without chance but I dont think they have the depth, or previous experience of lifting the trophy as the two on our heels.

You're cluey enough about the game RM, who would you have your hard earned on?

Stupid or not RM, what Rafa said was true.
I just read the interview and Rafa was just saying what everyone else is thinking.

Got to agree, Rafa is right in what he says. This morning, top Ref Graham Poll has also come out in defence of Rafa, and said that all the ref's think the same.

They believe that Fergie is almost immune from FA action no matter what he says or how much he abuses the ref's.

Rafa is only saying what eveyone already knows and don't forget, this is EPL season 09 part 2. It would be a circus if you didn't have clowns.

Forgot to mention, The FA will investigate Rafa for his outburst.

To be fair, th word "outburst" is just bollocks. There was no outburst, Rafa was very considered in what he said, no raised voices or rants, and did anyone notice that he kept referring to his notes.

All pre-planned.

As much as i dont like Rafa, I'm on his side in this one. And i could also see him always looking at his notes. They obviously took some time preparing it.

Seen the entire interview and as JTC said, there was no outburst.
Ok, he may of had some notes on paper to make sure he got his facts straight, but it was in response to a question from a reporter so I reckon its been in his pocket for a few weeks just waiting to be asked.
I got a lot of time for Fergie and what he's achieved, I really enjoyed his book too, but Rafa was spot on with his thoughts.

I should point out, same here ... I dont think anyone, even given the nature of rivalry, could deny Fergie the awesome achievements he's delivered at OT.

And this morning we saw the reason why Liverpool wont win the title (IMHO) ... No disprespect to Stoke, but if you can't pick up maximim points against them, you're probbly not warranting a pole position finish. (TBH if anyone deserved the 3 points it was them IMHO)

They played exactly as you'd figure they would, loaded at the back trying to spring the counter (which they did several times), but Liverpool went to war with a Spud Gun, and whilst he's the greatest manager we've had for 20 years, you'd have to question why Rafe would play for 70 minutes with $45mil pound of striker on the bench (Torres + Keane).

Who cares if he was right or wrong? The fact is he has just blasted Sir Alex publicly. Surely he has learnt from previous experiences? All that will do is fire up Sir and his Red Men.

Oh and that rant worked well, a nice 0-0 draw against a relegation battler followed just days after his opened his Spanish gob.

Sniped?? How was that a snipe?

I know Sir Alex has made many, many comments in the press before but at least he has the results to back it up. Sir Alex would have absolutely loved Rafa saying that kind of stuff publicly. He should have kept it to himself and got his players focused on winning the League... that is the only way to get back at Ferguson.

If United go on to win the league then he will look extremely stupid.

I also posted my thoughts on Benitez's comments well before your poor performance overnight against Stoke who were extremely unlucky to only take 1 point out of that. Hardly a snipe but you do support Liverpool I guess. The pressure is starting to tell with your captain getting arrested, Rafa bleating in the press, and their own fans starting to crack and not even have an ounce of confidence in their own side.
