maybe so with league cups etc, not for EPL .

Good for league games, but woeful for EPL games.

ANd all he really did or has done that i can remember is score against man city in the 150th minute of stoppage time :D

Scored a hat trick in CL and scored the first goal in the League Cup final when we beat Villa in 2010.
Was on fire at start of this season, had 3 goals in League Cup before injury.
Still think he has something to offer us.
Cost us nothing, came on free transfer and is on minimum wages.
Im sure he would have went back to Liverpool but they obviously didnt want him

I'm with Jim on this. Owen was a very shrewd signing last season by sir purple nose.
I also think he's still got something left to offer. He's a spark that can create havoc in the last 15 mins of a game. Give him 1 chance and he'll score 99 times in 100.

Owen's goal to win the Derby made his signing worthwhile regardless of anything else he did for United. 8)

They are owned by new balance, Liverpool is their 1st venture into football.
Not sure if they sponsor any of the other teams owned by our friendly American owners

I know one game shouldn't be viewed in isolation, but I found the CC Final depressing to watch.

Whilst we might have had the majority of possession, more corners and more shots on goal, once again I didn't think we looked too likely to score .. And once again that was down to a lesser credentialled opponent (with all due respect to Cardiff) who were:

- plucky
- Well organised
- Faster

We seem to be able to get "up" and play above ourselves for one off games as an underdog, but really struggle against teams we are expected to beat.

We lack pace and quality skill and last night was a serious eye opener of what life is going to be like when Stevie G either retires, and winds his career down .. The midfield is the first area that requires an injection of speed and quality .. Our two quickest players would probably be Gerard and Bellamy, who are our elder statesmen.

In fact you could find an issue with every player on the Reds list at the moment, so if the club seriously expects to challenge the top 5 clubs with the list we have at present, they are dreaming.

Still question marks over KK's selections and formations IMHO .. We have a LONG way to go to turn things around sadly.

Watching the final straight after the free flowing and exhilarating football Arsenal and Spurs put on, and the belief Man U display to always get over the line was just painful.

Pretty fair analysis.
Cardiff were plucky and got themselves up for a big game but still shouldnt get anywhere near a decent EPL side.
Liverpool have no problem getting up for matches against big guns but struggle to beat bottom sides, the game has passed KK along time ago, his 80's style just doesnt work anymore. I think you are right about your squad, i wouldnt think more than 3 or 4 of your players would get a game at a top 4 side. Go help you when Stevie G hangs up the boots. Without serious investment i honestly cant see Liverpool breaking into the top 4 for a few years atleast

 We played exhilarating football? We must have watched different games

Good summary though. All I'll say is welcome to the world of Mr Damian Comolli. He comes with great rep, but seriously, the guy is a plonker.

Love his comment about how the stars of the world will be easier to attract now that Liverpool have won a trophy and are back in Europe.
The guy hasnt got a clue, his side at full strength struggled to beat a championship side to win a Cup that most EPL clubs dont take seriously and for that they now get to play in the second rate Europa League. Somehow I cant see people jumping at the chance to join them. Its unfortunate that these days the reputation of a club means nothing, everyone wants to play CL football hence the reason finishing top 4 is far more important than winning any domestic cup

I said that before he was manager, when there was rumours he would take over, it would be a shame, a great player/manager like Kenny, to be remembered for a poor run at liverpool now, rather then the legend that he is.

Yes hes still remembered for everything he has done, but, the younger generation may look at him and say he was no good now

Kenny just still doesnt get it, in his press release he said he was proud to win the League Cup this season and wouldnt have swapped it for anything because Liverpool need to win trophies.
At the end if the day they finished in their lowest position for nearly 20 years and were a massive 37 points off the lead aswell as finishing below Everton.

Sadly I can't disagree with you Jim, the focus must always be on the league and by extension Europe, you would think of all people Kenny would have known that.

Will always be the King, but I'm not unhappy about this, so long as we get his replacement right .. Don't want another Hodgson type.

Roberto Martinez and Rafa Benitez are the 2 favourites at this stage
