As long as the FA Cup doesn't provide too much of a distraction RM. By the way dunno if you saw it but Hasslebainks goal was supberb.

Sundays results

Sheff U 0 - 0 Boro.
Boro had the better of the play and will be looking to progress. To be fair Sheff U did ok having parted company with Robson and had installed Blackwell as the new manager only a day or two before.

PNE 0 - 1 Pompey
Being one of our local rivals I personally don't have much time for Preston, but you have to say how unlucky they were not to win this. Even Redknapp during his aftermatch interview admitted Preston should have won. James pulled off a string of top class saves, proving he is Englands number one keeper atm, including a decent penalty save, and only a late own goal 2 minutes into injury time saved Portsmouths blushes. Tough luck PNE.

Latest after 29 mins

Liverpool 0 - 0 Inter
Materazzi just been sent of for Inter. Nothing 2nd booking on Torres who went down like he had been shot.
Macsherano having a good game and the atmosphere has been great. Hats off to the Inter fans who clapped the "You'lle Never Walk Alone" anthem from start to finish.

Shalke 1 - 0 Porto

OK gents, The business end of the Champions League is underway.

FINALLY Liverpool are playing like they actually want to be out there. Dominating Inter up to the 35th minute, with plenty of help from the ref and a noisy, noisy Kop.

Persistant pain in the ass Marco Materazzi has been sent off for 2 soft yellows but it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke    . The Kop delighted in giving the ex-toffee a send off too!!!

So, 35 mins in:

Liverpool 0 - Inter 0
Schalke 1 - Porto 0
Roma 1 - Real Madrid 1
Olympiacos 0 - Chavski 0

(P.S. Just too quick for me JTC!! )

Agree DA with the soft yellows. Torres played Materazzi like a puppet. A real pro is Torres

85 mins gone

Liverpool 1 - 0 Inter
Dirk Kuty scores with a deflect. Been all Liverpool this half as 10 man Inter have sat back and tried to soak up the pressure for the draw. Milan survived a deadcert handball by Vierra in the penalty box so maybe there was a bit of justice in the goal.

Olympiacos 0 - 0 Chelski
Roma 2 - 1 Real Roma come back from behind
Shalke 1 - 0 Porto

Steve Gerrards 50th goal at Anfiled and Liverpools 100th European win.

The stadium has gone mad. Into added time (4 mins) and two goals in 4 minutes is nothing more than Liverpool deserved as Inter suffer their first defeat in 4 months

That was a great performance from Liverpool. Where did it come from? They've been so ordinary and then pull out a performance like that against possibly the best side in Europe at the moment.

What is it about the Champions League that makes Liverpool step up?

The Anfield crowd was outstanding too.

Totally agree DA on all points. Going down to ten men just made Inter more defensive but to thier credit Livepool just kept plugging away

Some say nostalgia/history/tradition and I have no doubt that plays a decent part, but I'd also suggest with our current group, it's the pace of the game, much slower than the frenetic EPL.

I might be biased, but I honestly believe that scoreline is nothing less than we deserved this morning, dominated possession and created plenty of opportunities in the second half.

Whilst a 2-0 lead is about the best imaginable (and realistic) result we could have hoped for, the tie is far from over ... Inter WILL score in the return bout and we all know how hard it is to score in Italy.

Just good to see the boys play to their capabilities for a change, had forgotten what it looked like!!

Walk on :D :D :D

Trust me to go get breakfast in the hotel I'm in after 80 mins..
Soft yellow to Materrazzi though as mentioned above, but Vieras handball should've been a penalty.
Why can't they re-produce this form in the league ???

80 mins - BUGGER! Liverpool do have an unbelievable record of scoring late goals though.

And yes, the Viera handball was a penalty as clear day. It's astounding that neither the ref or his assistant could see Viera practicing his Aussie Rules smothering technique!!!

Fantastic Game this morn at Emirates and an excellent result for AC MIlan with a 0-0 score. It was a pleasure to watch- awesome high class passing and defense from both teams.
To be fair Arsenal were all over Milan for most of the 90 mins escpescially the second half- fabregas hleb and adebeyors interplay stunning. Flamini shut down kaka which shut down AC Milan and never really threatened. KAlac had a good game in goal but no real tough saves.
AC Milan should get through now. Adebeyors miss on 93" could cost em that.

Barca beat celtic 3-2. goals t o Messi (2) and henri- barca should go through

Man U drew with Lyon 1-1- goal on 87" to Tevez- lucky goal really- Man U should go through

Febernace beat Seville 3-2 in Istanbul- Interesting second leg this one- tough to call.

Propably preaching to the converted but champions league hour is on SBS at 10 is tonight- a good program.

LOL .. I've been thinking about it all morning and still can't work out how Adebayor missed that header ... As Fozzie said (still think he's a ****) that seriously could be a miss that jeopardises their CL chances.

Im sure he cant work it out either!! Amazing last few minutes really. Interesting your views on Fozzie- Some of my mates absolutely hate him too- but i reckon hes awesome- he comes across (and may well be) really arrogant which doesnt help his cause- i think the main reason i like him is these days on telly, in the paper, on the news- all you get is people talking about peripheral airy fairy gossipy crap. Fozzie talks about the game and the game only- hes one of the few special comments men who dont pretend to know what the players is thinking (ian healy, malcolm blight cough cough) and explains what we are seeing from a technical point of view. Not trying to pursuade you CP just explaining why i like the ****
