Why don't you want the Champions League?

believe the champ league should be for the champions of each europe league thats involved. not runners up, or second runners up. championsleague mean champions. you aint champions if you finish second, third or fourth

I think it's like a concession of defeat. Arsenal fans know they'll never win it, so they've given up on it!!!

Scumball was also part of the diabolical 2nd Porto goal. I LOVED it.

It was a disgrace wasn't it. In years past, Spurs would have gone to a ground like that, fluffed about for 90 mins and come away with a 1-0 loss.

The problem at the DW stadium is it also gets used for rugby. EPL officials couldn't really do anything about it. The pitch wasn't dangerous, just a boggy quagmire.

If I was Man U, Arse, Chelski, Liverpoo and had played on that pitch on a Sunday just before an important CL game on say Tuesday night, I'd be pissed off to the max. That's gotta take the steam out of your players.

See - it's a good thing Spurs are too useless for CL football!

dont know how we will go there with our passing game , as we still have to travel to wigan. But compared to evertons, arsenals ground on the weekend its an absolute discrace and i would be embarrassed to play a game on it. Goes to show what that stupid sport rubgy does to football grounds.
maybe its time to sub let a ground close by to wigan, or the board for wigan get the acts together and build a seperate ground like the rest of the football teams in all leagues and have there own ground for use of football and football only.

The problem is that Dave Whelan (hence DW stadium - classic stuff naming a stadium after yourself!!!) owns Wigan FC and used to own the rugby club too. He's now sold the rugby club, but I believe there is an agreement in place to share the ground. And lets face it, given that he owns the ground, he's going to want as much revenue from it as he can get his hands on.

i guess so, but surely the EPL will have something to say about the state of the pitch. Or just ban rugby altogether. Take a look at the etihad stadium (melb) after the AC/DC concert. was shocked seeing the AFL allowing them to play on that.

A pretty good contest last night between Spurs and Toffees and all credit to Spurs to holding us out! We lost the game ourselves IMO as we blew too many chances in the second half!

The game was played in two halves (oh really ), Spurs dominated the first half and thanks to one guy who i personally like to watch, Luka Modric, absolute class act and his goal to put you guys 2-0 up was pure brilliance!

Second half Toffees dominated but just could not pull level, Donovan missed an open goal but gee Gomes looked very shaky for the whole game, when Cudicini is fit will he be the number 1 keeper?? i'd like to think so...

Everton fielded a fairly inexperienced line up in terms of match fitness but no excuse, we had our chances and could not convert!

Also best wishes to Ramsey, hope to see the kid out there running around again some day...

Agree with all of that except the Gomes bit.

Definitely a game of 2 halves. The first was one of the best I've seen from Spurs in a LONG time. Absolute class. Modric, Pavlyuchenko, Bale, Palacios, Kranjcar, Corluka were all immense. The bit of play leading up to Modric's goal between Corluka, Kranjcar and Modders was mindblowing. What a finish too. I reckon there would only be 4-5 players in the EPL that could produce a finish like that.

The 2nd was all Everton. How on earth did Donovan miss that goal. I watched it back about 5 times and still can;t believe how lucky we were. Goes to show - not all seppos are bad people!!!

On Gomes, yes, he flapped a couple of times and his positioning for the Everton goal was absolutely dreadful. But he redemmed himself with 2 absolutely top drawer saves late on. His save from Jagielka's bullet was outstanding. Gomes has been excellent all season for us. IMO he's been on of the best stoppers in the entire comp. Look at the stats on Spurs conceding goals. We keep a clean sheet ever 1.8 games. Chelski are next best at around 2.8. Spurs record defensively this season is outstanding and while a lot of that can be put down to Dawson/King/Bassong, Gomes has been brilliant before tonight's blip. Cudicini is great backup, but that's all he is at Spurs - backup.

Fair enough, im in no position to judge on Gomes as i havent watched that many spurs games this season but he just looked very shake last night, as you said maybe an off night! Those late stop from Gomes were directed right at him though so i would of thought you'd expect him to make saves like that, hardly redeeming himself.
