Speaking of good managers choice Jabber, Billy Davies has just signed on as manager of............................................Nottm Forest.

Announced this morning so not in the papers yet, but former Preston and Derby manager Billy Davies has signed as manager of Derby bitter rivals Nottm Forest. this is a bit like Harry Redknap taking over Southampton from Prtsmouth or George Graham taking over Tottenham from Arsenal.

Agree WHUFC. They are already a million miles behind the EPL as it is, but unilaterally introducing this rule would be like the EPL unilaterally introducing a salary cap without the rest of Europe joining in.

One thing they haven't considered, is the current effect the EPL has on CCC sides who bring their own youngsters through the academys.

This is a double edged sword though imo, as many rely on the revenue they generate from selling thier young "stars", and I know that The Clarets have survived on doing just this. Chaplow sold to WBA for £1.5m (cost £0.00), Lafferty sold to Glasgow Rangers for £3.5m (cost £0.00), Andy Gray sold to Charlton for £1.5m (cost £60k). In fact you can go back to the 60's to see examples of Burnley selling their stars to the big boys (Stevens, Dobson, McIlroy, etc) just to survive.

The problem will be when they decide to roll this idea out across the EPL too. The big sides already trawl way outside thier agreed territory to pick up the top talented school boys, (Man U signing a very young David Beckham, an Essex boy, is a good example of this) and Chelski was a good example of a club caught in the act of soliciting young school boys already aligned to other smaller clubs.

If, and when, they do decide to roll it out to the EPL, the big sides are going to be even more active in stealing the best young talent, stifeling further the lower leagues opportunity to earn some revenue on selling good home grown talent. The problem will be compounded further though as the weaker EPL sides will pick up more of the ageing or 2nd string players who would normally find themselves playing in the CCC.

I think Davies should never have been sacked from Derby, Jewell only got 4 points last season as manager of Derby, i am stoked he is gone and hope we now get a manager with a game plan, and who actually plays our good players. I wish Billy Davies all the best at forrest just not to much success, ha ha.

Totally agree MT. When all the talk about £multi million deals started, Laffs let it go to his head. I guess when you are an 18 year old kid and people start throwing £1,000's of pounds a week at you, and telling you how "great" you are, it is no suprise.

Well, we are off to see the Clarets at home to Swansea.

If it's a draw, the swans will set a new league record of 9 consecutive draws. Game kicks off at 5:20pm as it is live on Sky so it might be on the telly down there too but I'm sure sure how many of you die hard Aussie Claret fans will be up at 3:00am ish (or whatever time it will be there) to catch it.

3 losses and a crappy draw at QPR since 25th Dec. We really need to win this one, but at least the Swans have only won once in the last 20 years at Turf moor so hear's hoping.

Come on you Clarets. Owen Coyles Claret and Blue Army.

Yet again the televised game is a sham. Destroyed by the man in black who forgot that he was there to officiate and not actually be the star. I know it sounds like sour grapes but it isn't. He was pathetic. Giving Swansea a penalty and then adding insult to injury by giving Duff is marching orders after a perfectly good tackle, killed the game as a contest.

The game was a crock of shite to begin with, but at least with 11 v 11 the Clarets was always in it. Once the Swans had gone 1 - 0 up and against ten men for more than 3/4 of the game it was going to be a bigger ask than Burnley and their Christmas curse could muster.

The sending off wasn't the only farce the ref was involved in as he wore out ther pip in his whislte, even when the offended side had posession of the ball. It could have been a different story had either the linesman or the ref called the deliberate handball that stooped the ball reaching McCanns' head and a sure goal from 3 yards out in front. Ok. if one missed it surely the other should have spotted it. Instead, within a minute Jensen was picking the ball out of the Burnley net and that was that.

The Christmas cusre continues as expected and of course predicted just over two weeks ago. Since the 25th, Burnley, who looked unstoppable, who knocked Fulhan, Chelsea and Arsenal out of the League Cup and was sitting pretty in 4th spot 6 points ahead of their closest rivals and acutally challenging for an automatic spot, have managed a solitary goaless draw at QPR in the cup. We have now lost 3 league games on the bounce, two at "Fortress Turf Moor" where an unbeaten home run of 14 matches was wiped away, lost one away to the leagues bottom club, and despite a fair show in the 1st half, had a spanking at Spurs in the League Cup.

So where from here. 13th place mediocrity in the league, a woeful exit from the FA Cup at the hands of QPR this Tuesday and the expected anti-climax against Spurs in 10 days. Chris McCann and maybe one other will be sold to balance the books and that's if for this year.

Sometimes I really bloody hate football. Roll on March and the SANFL. OH hang on, then it's the Roosters turn ???

I know what you mean mate.

At Spurs, in the last few seasons, we've sold:

Berbatov
Keane
Carrick
Kanoute

All of whom have gone on to bigger and better things and left a Spurs side languishing in mid table mediocrity.

I swear satan is the god of football.

Plenty mate. All live.

They don't know what the CCC is though.

And they think Paul Stalteri is a gun. .

I need a job asap though, not for the coin (as I'll only get $8 canadian an hour) but for a lift ticket and accomodation. You can't get either without a job. Frustrating!

So..........................The Clarets finally register a win since Christmas. In front of a pitifull 3,700 fans and with the help of some pretty poor finishing from QPR, Burnley's young striker, local boy Rodrigues (yes that's right, I said local boy. He has come up via the youth team system so expect us to sell him next year for £1.5m in the Jan 10 window, just as we are dropping like a stone out of the play off's again), who scored with just about the last kick of the match.

Just when it looked like the game was going into a penalty shoot out lottery, the kid broke through and kept his head to chip it past the advancing keeper. 120 mins of football and Burnely are through to face WBA at the Hawthorns.

To be fair, it was a much improved effort by Burnley after the Swansea debacle, but again, gudjohnson buggered about with the ball in the middle when he had enough time to autograph it before laying it of, and subsequently went and lost it. QPR went through 2 on 1 with the keeper and Burnley wee 1 - 0 down.

Burnley equalised 6 mins later through Thompson after a bit of ping pong in the QPR six yard box, but really Burnely rode their luck and QPR should had won the game on the 86th minute but for another wayward shot with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Lets be honest, beating QPR at Turf Moor is not the turning of the tide. We were poor, our midfiled, after McCann went off injured, was poor, really poor, and again we showed how vulnerable we are at the back, but a win is a win and with Preston looming on Saturday it is better to go into the game with that win under our belt.

It will be down to earth though on Saturday, a local derby, Preston flying now, Burnley on the drop and a play off place for the winners. Fireworks and goals.

Incidenally, it was reported on the local news today that Boro have come in for Eagles. Not much detail yet but expect to read the we have sold him for a couple of £m. Talk about ambition of the club. Bollocks.

The ref must be feeling really sorry for PNE as he awards them another penalty.

74% of the play to the Clarets, all over PNE like a rash so he decides it is better to give PNE a penalty to even things up.

what a tosser.

Funny that the last time Paul Taylor reffed a Burnley v PNE game he gave PNE a penalty. HGe halso sent off 4 Clarets in the games he has reffed.

4 sending off's in 4 games and 3 penalties against us.

Do those who select the refs for games not look at the ******* stats. Wankers.

:D Make it your local mate. :D

Bad loss today. All Clarets but two very ropy penalties gifts it to PNE.

Ended with 65% of the possession to the Clarets, and more than double the shots on target. Only the two penalties made the difference. Owen Coyle on TV very very unhappy, which show the level of ineptitude of the ref as Owen is a very considered guy who, unlike me, never criticises the men in black.

Funny thing is, Sedgewick for PNE, "handballed" in the PNE penalty box, not dissimilar to the Caldwell incident, and the ref just waved it away as accidental.

Mellor had his arms al over Caldwell almost ripping his shirt off, yet the ref misses that and awards Mellor with the penalty.

Like I said, 4 sending off's and 3 penalties against the Clarets in the 4 games he has reffed says something to me.
