They will have the crowds behind them for their home games, and big al has already startred to make some training ground changes.

It makes it more interesting that's for sure.

Definitely makes it more interesting. IMO, the boost is just a crowd thing though. I can't see it having an effect on the players because so many of them are just there for the fat paycheck.

Time will tell, but my verdict for the Geordies is that they are still going down!

see told yahs that me a DA do agree on a few things ;) i aswell believe the maggies will drop and Allan will do no good. Maybe Jose Morhino will take over !!

b4st4rds and Stoke both winning was a real killer for Toon.

Got to revise my thoughts now. 5 points adrift and a tough run in, looking difficult for Toon.

they have stoke away this weekend they might get something from that. But yeah my view still stands i believe that they wont do so well. Might be a year or so in the Championship. Can or does anyone know when Newcastle was not in the top flight of english football the last time?

Believe it or not, I have no joy in seeing the Toon this low at the moment.
Only because it might bring bad karma if I laugh too much, as we're not far from the same position!

1992/3 season Bully. Keegan joined them as a player and they won promotion afer spending about 4 years in the 2nd tier.

To be honest, they aren't one of the big guns, even if they think they are. They have a big, big following and a decent ground 53,000 + but as for results, they are a million miles away form the like of Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Man U, Man City, Aston Villa etc.

Recent history:

1993 - 2008 EPL
1989 - 1992 2nd Div
1984 - 1988 1st Div
1978 - 1983 2nd Div

Sure they have tasted sucess in the FA Cup but the last time they won that was in the 50's and of the four league titles they have won, the last one of those was in 1926. Even Burnley won the league in the 60's.

I must say this though about the great man Alan Shearer .. He is the only Manager I've ever heard not blame a bad referee decision for a loss.

It annoys the crap outta me that all Managers invariably come out with "We didn't deserve to lose today", "If the referee gets that penalty right we go 1-nil up and I don't think we would have lost from there" blah blah blah - Always passing the buck!!

Not so Shearer!!

Owen was celarly denied a goal that crossed the line but the linesman said "I couldn't be sure" ... Shearers take on it was something lile "That happens, we move on - it's not his fault we lost"!!

Champion on field and apparently just as much a champion off it! :D

Nah, he is only there for 8 games, and then he'll be back on the telly. Newcastle were f**k'd before he went there so he has nothing to lose. No pressure on him, not like Rafa ;)

yeah. Only for the last 8 games. Kinnear should be back for next year. Has made it plain too that he is only there until the end of the season. Still a sceptic might think he has a nice littel get out. toon go down and he is away back to aunty Beeb. Toon stay up and you can bet your arse that he will be there next year ;)

Good money if you can get it. I think this has more to do with Shearer than Ashley.

Thanks to the Daily Mail

Newcastle give Dennis Wise £1.5m pay-off to leave club

Newcastle have given Dennis Wise a £1.5million pay-off to leave the club.
Owner Mike Ashley has paid the club’s executive director (football) a full year’s salary as part of the fresh start under Alan Shearer.
It means former Swindon and Leeds manager Wise has been paid £3m for just over 12 months’ work.

thanks mate. guess i didnt really pay attention to them in the early 90s whilst a youngster so wasnt sure. thought they had been in there for a while. Yeah they might be the side with the biggest stadium capacity in the championship next season.... the 'bigger' clubs...i.e. Birmingham and Wolves seem to be coming back to premier but there seating capacity isnt as much. the rest of the sides wouldnt have more then 30,000 yeah??

1-1 away at Stoke for the Geordies - not the worst possible result as they did show spirit to come from behind.

They're still going down IMO - their season will be pushed closer to the edge on Sunday at the Lane ;)

Fair enuf, but don't forget, Newcastle and Boro might be down and they have more the 30k capacirt, and at the other end, the Foxes and maybe Leeds who might join them, both have more the 30k capacity.

Not that it really matters as most CCC clubs couldn't fill a 30k stadium on a normal day anyway.

noticed that Blackpool only have 9,400 capacity? what happens when and if they are promoted to premier league? would they have to play at a different ground? surely the premier league would say upgrade it because of such a small crowd for a premier league game?

not a bridge that needs to be crossed in the forseeable Bully

Crowd size doesn't mean anything, look at Wimbledon when they were up there. Often had 7,000 crowds. The main thing is that the ground must be all seated and even then I think you have 3 years or so. But that rule also applies to the ccc too.

Blackpool already have an all seated stadium (if that's what you call it). The next rule is the quality of the pitch.

I'm sure there are other requirements like health and safety, crowd control, changing room facilities etc
