Man U v b4st4rds
Vidic out for rest of season with broken collar bone.
Ferdinand, in temper, smashes ball at close range into own fans, hitting a woman in the face
poor 1st halg, but differeent team in 2nd. Scholes was BOG scored 1 and 1 assist. The baby faced assassin scored 4th after coming off bench, still looks about 16yo. Loved watching this particularly the away fans celebration after they went 1 - 0 up    . United just overwhelmed b4st4rds, playing total footbal in the 2nd half and can't see Chelski catching them on this form. Easier run in too.

Watford v Chelski
Brazilian Rinaldi played 1st game for Watford. Blatant penalty not given for Terry handball, when everyone in the ground saw it (except apparently the ref). Watford unlucky not to get something out of this, Chelski looked very ordinary and scored winner in 2nd minute of added time. Great overhead attempt by Kabba in 1st half, terrible miss by him in the 2nd.
Foster had a good game, and justifies his "nd choice as England keeper (despite the Robinson goal)

Liverpool v Arsenal
Pool on top form, gunners oout of sorts, hence 4 - 1 scoreline. Gunners missing Henry, have nothing up front, and the back for were all over the place. Again missing a real battler like Winterburn or Steve Bould. They look like a team of faries. Crouch was outstanding, all 3 goals were real class, 1st thanks to Pennants persistence, and really looked up for it today. Get him back in the England set up. At least he can head the bloody ball.
Best moment of the match, when Crouch had to crouch (no pun intended) down to receive the congrats of his team mates after scoring his 3rd. The new Yankee owners must have been very happy after seeing this display.

West Ham v Boro.
Bobby Zamora after 4 mins and Tevez gift on 1/2 time. Boro were poor and Dowing in particular. Was booed all afternoon because of England, (Shame Rooney didn't get the same treatment. He was by far worst on ground mid week against Andorra), and he seemed to cary that form over to today. West Ham looked up for it today and at least one team in Claret and Blue won.

Charlton v Wigan
1 - 0 penalty, dragged Wigan back into the relegation dogfight and did Chrltons survival a power of good. 3 wins and a draw in last 4 home games has brought Charlton back from the brink. Pardew has done a great job since taking over. Bent looked good and had a couple of decent efforts. Maybe not too late for and England call up (IMO only)

CCC Update Sat 31st March

Postby johntheclaret » Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:50 pm

Wolves v Soton
Saints without 8 1st team players. Saganowski unbelievable influence, scored hat trick and made 2 others.. Wolves didn't look too bad, just unlucky and couldn't score. Andy Keogh had 4 good attempts in the 1st half. Wolves missed penalty when 3 - 0 down. Weak effort by Knightly. Saints keeper Bilskovski made easy save, and made several good saves throughout. Coincidence fact: Last team to score 6 at Wolves was? You've guessed it Southampton during 76/77 season  Opinion: Wolves matched Soton in every department except putting the ball in the net. Difference between the two, Saints keeper pulled off a string of good saves, Saganowski 3 gools, 2 assists. Wolves scored own goal to make it 2 - 0, missed penalty at 3 - 0 and was very exposed at the back for the last 3 goals as they chased the game.

Leeds v Preston
Ormerod scores for PNE after 5 mins. Blake equalier after 51 mins, good assist by Cresswell. Alot of pressure by PNE, Nugent couldn't score if he was the only one on the pitch. Healy scored winner against the odds. Nugent another England player that seemed to be suffering from post England blues.

Barnsley v Derby
Man U loanee Jones scored 1st. 2- 0 after Matt Oakley 48th minute strike and 8 minutes added time afeter Derby injury to David Lucas who was still unconcious when arrived at hospital. Terible challenge by Barnsley keeper. Reminiscent of the chalenge by the German keeper on the the French man during the World cup a few years ago. Barnsley scored 2 minutes into added time.

QPR v WBA
QPR's Paul Furlong missed penalty at 1 -1. Zoltan Gera score's winner Kevin Phillips opend for WBA, Blackstock equalised.. WBA did not look like a premiership contender and QPR unlucky not to take all 3 points.

Cardiff v Sunderland
Very very very poor defending by Cardiff with Sunderland free kick for Ross Wallace to score. Shot through wall to score. Cardiff offered nothing and was lucky to lose only 1 - 0 Cardiff had two clear cut 1st half chances to score but badly miss top scorer Chopra. Bluebirds keeper Alexander blamed for goal. Sunderland now 14 games unbeaten

Birminghan have taken Andy Cole on loan until the end of the season and will play against Coventry. Looks like a replacement for Mc Sheffrey who finishes 3 match ban. Also missing is Julian Gray.

Results Update Sunday April 1st

Postby johntheclaret » Mon Apr 02, 2007 4:13 am

Spurs 1 - 0 Reading
Spurs back into UEFA place after Keane 41st minute penalty. Looked very dodgy to me and far less obvious than Terry' at Watford yesterday. (Shows the lack of consistency in referees).
Having said that Malbranque hit the woodwork and both Jenas and Defoe had goals dissallowed for offside. For Reading, Lita hit the woodwork.

Bolton 31 50
Spurs 31 48
Everton 30 46
Reading 31 44

Birmingham 3 - 0 Coventry
A one horse race, goals from Jaidi, and a double from sub DJ Campbell.

Table.

Derby 40 76
Birmingham 39 74
Sunderland 40 73
Preston 38 68
WBA 40 67
Wolves 40 66
Soton 40 63
Cardiff 40 63

Just a footnote. The top spot has changed 18 times so far this season.

Managed to catch a bit of this game ... Don't think I've ever seen any team cop as a bad a run with appalling offside calls as Preston did

Results Update Monday 2nd April

Postby johntheclaret » Tue Apr 03, 2007 7:27 am

Villa v Everton
Cracking game, end to end stuff. Everton 1 - 0 with 75 mins gone & 26 attempts on goal.
Villa 1 - 1 Everton. 83 mins. Agbonlahore after keeper spilled 1st shot.
Johnson still going down like he's ben shot everytime anyone comes within 10 yards of him  He wastes so many goal scoring chances by going for the free.

Final score

Villa 1 - 1 Everton
Draw was a fair result. Villa now 14 draws this season

Spurs 48
Everton 47
Reading 44

I'm a happy man this morning!!!!!!!!!!

I know he does score goals, but I just don't like or rate Johnson. There was talk (on a spurs chat forum which is highly unreliable!!!) of him being chased by Spurs. I hope it turns out to be an unfounded rumor!!!

My only disappointment at the moment was finding out last night that the uefa game on free to air tv on Friday morning is the AZ Alkmaar v Bremen game :x :x :x

WHY DON'T THEY SHOW SPURS!!!!!!!

Plus tomorrow mornings game is Milan v Bayern game - why not the Reds?

Results Update Tues 3rd April A great great night for Englis

Postby johntheclaret » Wed Apr 04, 2007 8:56 am

Yes a great great night indeed.
Burnley 4 - 0 Plymouth Clarets ended their 19 (nineteen) match winless run in emphatic style

Other results (Sorry not many details as having a great time at the Clarets)

QPR 1 - 0 PNE Great goal by Bexter Blackstock All the pressure was from PNE but can't win away. Watching the tele report, Nugent was cr4p again.

PSV 0 - 3 Liverpool By all accounts PSV pretty abysmal and lucky to lose by only 3. Crouch on scoresheet again, along with Riese and Gerrard.

AC Milan 2 - 2 Bayern.

CCC Table

Derby 40 76
Birmingham 39 74
Sunderland 40 73.
PNE 40 68
WBA 40 67
Wolves 40 66

Looks like you can pick any 2 from three for the auto spot .PNE away form has cost them auto spot and they haven't fared very well in the play off's last couple of seasons. Whichever of the top three misses the auto spot will be favourite to win the play off's though

Man U CL news. Park out injured. Saha, Fletcher in squad.

Excellent result for Liverpool this morning ... Hardly had to slip out of 3rd gear against a severely undermanned Eindhoven, who unfortunately for their fans, offered up lessthan token resistance.

All 3 goals were pretty classy and Kuyt scored himself a late booking (meaning he misses the return leg but commences the Semi's with a clean slate) ... Only sour note was Aurelio's injury which appeared to be a snapped Achilles, unfortunate for the bloke because he'd worked his way back into some tidy form in recent weeks.

AC Milan have plenty to do in Munich, with the SBS commentators tipping them to bow out ... I still think they are a good chance to get through however.

Game was pretty action packed, Milan dominated but didn't put it on the board ... They were denied what looked to be a legitimate penalty but then were awarded one of the worst penalties I've seen given.

What a turnaround for your Calrets cous! 4-0! That's a fair way to end a drought - pour them in!

I got dudded by daylight saving over hear and missed the CL game (AC Milan v Bayern). I got up and saw it was highlights and was thinking WTF!!! Daylight saving does it again!!! Bloody farmers!

Liverpool are on the money at the right end of the season. IMO they are the team to beat despite PSV being ordinary. Just get Harry back into the side!!!!

Bayern in a good position to go through too with those away goals.

I expect both PL sides to win tomorrow.

You're kidding? Riise bankrupt!!!
He would get what I earn in a year each week!

He needs to sit down and have a chat with Robbie Fowler. The great man isn't only a gun footballer, he's as smart as they come.

Good goal last night though!

CL Update 4th April. Bad bad night for English Football

Postby johntheclaret » Thu Apr 05, 2007 8:54 am

Roma 2 - 1 Man U 1
Chelski 1 - 1 Valencia

Crowd trouble at Roma overshadows the result. Roma fans charged the barrier separating the fans and the Italian police wade into the Man U fans, making the whole situation worse. Some Man U fans pretty badly beaten up (by the police) and one stabbed earlier in the day as troubl flared in the city before the kick off.  United fans still being held in the stadium and unlikely to be release for at least another 90 minutes.

As much as I don't care for Man U, I have some sympathy for their fans here. TV pictures show the police just wading in with battens hitting any fan within reach. Many were trying to get out of the way. Scenes of 3 or 4 police just clubbing a fan who was lying on the ground.

Cameras showing Italian fans throwing bottles into crowd when Man U scored, whilst police stood by and did nothing. Absolute disgrace. Not for a moment suggesting that all Man U fans were angels, but clear that the Italian police were quote "heavy handed" and the Roma fans were there for more than just to watch football. Not heard the end of this.

On the football, Scoles sent off for a poor and obvious 2nd bookable challenge and will miss the return. Rooney equalised for Man U after another good assist by Ronaldo.

Chelski will have a lot to do to progress now. Didier Drogba scored his 30th of the season (1st Chelski man to score 30 in a season from 30 years), to pull Chelski level and both Carvaleho and Shevchenko missed a great opportunities to win it at the end. Kalu hit the crossbar. Joe Cole came on in second half

Analysis: Liverpool home and dry and will not reliquish a 3 goal lead to go through to the semi's. I think Man U will join them despite defeat tonight providing they can break down the ultra defensive, time wasting, spoiling tactics that Roma will no doubt employ at Old Trafford, and providing they don't allow themselves to get would up by the Italians. Chelski IMO are the most vulnerable. Valencia are strong at home and have the away goal advantage. Chelski will have to come out and play and that will give the Spanish the chance of a breakaway. Jusy my opinion.

The possibility of an all EPL final or 3 EPL clubs in the semi's looks a little less likely after tonights results. There goes my forecast (this includes you DA  ).
