He was, only ever met him (a couple of times when we were back over in Bradford)... we left there when I was two so the only times I met him was on holidays over there.

He was actually was a bit of a bad lad, so the Police wouldn't have had to ask him how to spell his surname, they'd have written it down enough. :)

But he was a good fella, just a little wayward in his youth... ;)

When too many people are let into a ground where there were no seats, before full seater stadiums were mandatory, into an area which you couldn't swing a cat , then the fences are so high at the ground level to prevent fans running out the pitch during English footballs hooliganism era, a human crush occurred.

Google Bradford city fire also for another tragedy if you want to know about others

I dont want to sound like an arsehole but it wasn't quite that simple. Even though it was standing only, you still had to have a ticket to get in.
A lot has been said about whose fault it was, and who did what. The police were not entirely honest in thier reports at the time which is why the CPS overturned the Accidental Death verdict and why it is all going on again now,

The simple fact is that there were 000's of Liverpool fans there that didnt have tickets. The policce paniced and the guy in charge decided on the spur of th emoment to let them in, which I suppose he thought was better than to have them outside where he had less control of them.

Remember the times were different then and you are right, hooliganism was far more prevelent than it is today.

There were so many spurious accusations going on at the time, about ambulance people robbing the dead, Liverpool fans robbing the dead, police beating up fans who were carrying injured and dead away from the scene, Sheffield Weds issueing more tickets than the stand could hold, people getting in with bogus forged tickets, just so much crap it was difficult to know who to believe, although it is safe to say there was no one robbing anyone.

It would be very easy to say that if those Liverpool fans that didn't have tickets to get in, didn't turn up at the game, then none of what transpired would have happened. ?? Who knows??

What is certain, those who were crushed to death were at the front and would have been some of the first into that stand almost certainly would have had tickets. They had nothing to do with any decisions made by anyone outside the ground and were the most innocent of all who were there.

It was a terrible disaster and I don't fully understand how it could be anything but a tragic accident.

Agreed, very tragic accident.
Not as clear cut as Heysel where Liverpool fans were 100% at fault in the deaths of Juve fans

Liverpool fans actions were at fault agreed but the match should never have been played at the dodgy old stadium that it was back then. Both Juve and Liverpool asked for it to be moved due to the state of the stadium. Either way no sports lover should ever have to fear for their life to cheer on the teams they love regardless of how these events unfolded.

Back to the season at hand though and I definitely had half a mongrel when Wickham knocked the second in! Disappointing Mannone couldn't keep out the equaliser but will take the draw!

Think Palace will have a huge say in what happens at the top of the table, after knocking off the Chavs they have both Liverpool and Man City to play at home! My tips for the drop are Sunderland, Cardiff and Norwich from here.

Palace stay up thanks to a 1-0 win at West Ham. Jedinak with the winner from the spot. Pulis has done an amazing job with Palace to transform them from the rabble early on on in the season when they only took 4 points from their first 12 games. 5 straight wins for them which is a record in for them in the top flight.

He was the peacemaker last night, hos assistant was going ballistic at the dodgey penalty call and wanted to kill someone. Jose had to wrestle him away from the 4th official

EPL Season 2013/2014

Postby Jim05 » Mon Apr 21, 2014 9:10 pm

Some more records for Moyes last night.
-United will finish the lowest on the table for 24 years
- First time to not qualify for CL in 19 years.
- Lowest points tally ever in EPL
- Worst home game results in 25 years.
Thankfully looks like the board have had enough and a sacking is imminent
Moyes in his aftermatch presser claimed United passed the ball brilliantly and controlled the game. He must of watched a differant game and is clearly delussional.
Was funny hearing the Everton fans sing "You are gonna be sacked in the morning"

Yep, announced by the club

Heard that if sacked before the end if his first season, it's in his contract that the full six seasons do not have to be paid, only a portion.

1- So we dont have to pay him out in full
2- because some of the managers we are chasing are off to the WC in a few weeks time and the club can hopefully get the ball rolling before they leave for the Cup
