I did say that spurs performance was poor. It was hardly our first choice side though. Modric, assou ekotto, woodgate, king, kranjcar and corluka that's 6.

Blackburn 3-3 Chelsea (Blackburn 4-3 on penalties)
Manchester City 3-0 Arsenal

Two of the big guns have crashed out, yes they fielded weaker sides than usual after all it is only the Carling Cup and they have the Champions League to worry about!

Good warm up for the World Cup with Grella and Emerton both scoring their penalties, Emerton also scored in normal time to make it 2-2.

Chelsea did have a pretty decent team out there but good to see Blackburn get up in the end.

A derby semi final should be interesting.

The moment the game went to a penalty shotout Blackburn had the game won, Chelsea almost never win games at penaltys also Blackburn at Blackburn is bit of boogy game for Chelsea always has been, oh well congarts to Blackburn.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Both first leg ties have been postponed due to the weather.

I saw a bit of the Stoke - Fulham game this morning and it was snowing then so it must have been pretty bad in Manchester and Lancashire.

Heavy falls were forecast in most of England - even places like Bournmouth and Bristol were expecting 4-6 inches to settle.

The northern hemisphere is copping a belting at the moment. Even Miami in Florida had a low of 1 overnight.

Mate, I'd gladly swap. I LOVE the snow. Here's Adelaide's forecast for the next 5 days:

Thurs 35
Fri 39
Sat 41
Sun 41
Mon 41

Plus, we just bought a house in Prospect, so you could stroll down and watch the Roosters pre-season training.

And from your place, It's not too far to walk to Anfield for Sunday's big game!!

Done. I'll leave the keys under the door mat.

btw, it's a 3 mile (5kms to you) hike to the nearest village where I'll leave a car. The lane has disappeared

i would prefer the snow and cold, hate the hot weather, nothing worse then sweating in bed when the air cond is not on. and having the air cond running all night is not cheap. when its cold i just curl up under blankets instead of using heaters. much cheaper but yes i would love the cold more.

being in brisbane it makes it worse when its humid here, not as hot like 40 but 32-35 and humid i hate. storms are good tho

Semi Final 1st Leg

blackburb 0 - 1 VILLA

VILLA GAIN CUP ADVANTAGE

Aston Villa moved a step closer to Wembley on Thursday by beating Blackburn 1-0 in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final.

James Milner scored the only goal of the game in the first half and after Blackburn threatened a fightback after the break, it was the visitors who could easily have ended up with a wider advantage to take back to Villa Park next week.

Hmmm, I don't know about that. I thought Blackburn's 2nd half was worthy of being level going to Villa Park, but then Villa could have been 3 up at half time, so maybe justice was done. Kilinic (?) hit the upright twice, and Nzonzi had a free header from a corner right at the death that he should have scored from, but put it over the bar. Good game to watch actually.

Tonights Manchester derby should be a cracker, with City a slight favourite for the home tie:

MANCHESTER CITY 2.52
DRAW 3.20
MANCHESTER UNITED 2.85

19th Jan Semi Final 1st Leg

Man City 2 - 1 Man Utd

Two Tevez goals cancelled out an opening tap in from giggs. Tevez made his feelings clear in both celebrations although the penalty never was.
Got to say, this was one of the most boring Manchester derbies I've seen in a long time.
