Yeah I realise he is still under contract and on around £110,000 a week so obviously they want to free up funds but after the Barca transfer fell through I thought it was pretty obvious he wanted to go elsewhere. Mignolet is a better long term option IMO. The fact that we aren't playing in a lot of competitions a year out from the WC makes it an attractive move for Pepe as he seeks regular football, I just question the value to LFC. Farm him out permanently and use the cash to find a half decent CB to help Mignolet out.

Toure is a shrewd get being a free transfer but I still think we need to bolster our defence.

Grant Holt has left Norwich and signed a 3 year deal with Wigan.
Was Norwich's player of the year for 3 years running and chooses to leave the EPL and play in the Championship
Has said one of the key motivations for joining Wigan is because he will finally get a chance to play European Football and he is looking forward to the Europa league.
Hope he still enjoys it when they are bundled out in the qualifying round and then all he has for rest of the season is playing on sub standard Championship grounds

Agreed, although in his defence if you watch the crowd at Emirates that kind of emotion could be considered letting it fly.

Bit hypocritical to think he can say if a club of my choosing comes along with an offer you should let me go but if a better option for you comes along I expect you to be loyal to me.

Don't get me wrong has been a great servant of the club but, in his own words, it's a business.

It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first, I thought that I deserved better than that even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football. A lot has been made about me informing the club that if an offer came in from Barcelona that I would have liked them to consider it. But I had also spoken to the club about the possibility of extending my contract if the offer was not made. I told the manager that I wanted to play for Liverpool and that Barcelona would only become an option for me if the opportunity arrived, like the rumours said it would, as it would be a chance for me to go back home. When it didn’t come I was happy to fight for my place so I was surprised that Liverpool decided it was in the club´s interests to send me to Napoli instead.

Yep same statement I read, rather diplomatic and not at all what I was expecting from someone "letting it fly"
