Suarez will miss the Newcastle game after receiving a 1 match ban for his salute at the Fulham fans a month ago.

Hahaha, beginning to accept mediocrity! Now with the rear-ward looking appointment of Henry, Arse are starting to look like Spurs circa late '90s!

For someone who claims to watch a lot of EPL, you're not too switched on when it comes to fixtures.

Every year, the Christmas/New Year period is full of fixtures spread over the week. It's purely coincidence that this game happens to fall on a Friday. Generally in the world of EPL football, Fridays are sacred and won't become a prime time fixture. Perhaps JTC could elaborate (sooo quiet here without the great man!) on why but the poms I know and forums I visit are all adamant that Friday night football is a no-go.

Anyhoo, this game promises to be a cracker I reckon.

I am just saying this, i know that the EPL spreads games over these weeks. Please remind me when the last FRIDAY night game was whether it was christmas break or the first round of the season.??? Last one was a few seasons ago between Arsenal and Newcastle

Yet again...you cant seem to be civil and ALWAYS find it to have a dig at me. When you get out of your teenage years, come and talk to me. But that will never change with you

And no i am not taking it personally. Just saying that you cant even be civil for once in your life

Rise of live League coverage

The demand for football grew through the 1970s and early 1980s, and the decision to start screening live league matches was almost inevitable; a deal was struck for the start of the 1983-84 season and the first live league match since 1960 was screened on ITV, between Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, on 2 October 1983. Spurs would also feature in the BBC's first live league match at Manchester United on a Friday night a few weeks later.

might have been the first and last game on friday night tho.

My point is, they should start doing it more. I have said this before yes but would love to watch a game early sat morning here instead off sunday morning early etc. As i work friday nights it would be good to come home after a long day and enjoy a EPL match . As normally sat/sun morns is a drinking session and a night out and sunday night/mon morn is a sleep before the new week

From what I gather from soccer forums is its a traditional/logistical issue of getting people to games. Bit like mid week AFL..

How would traveling supporters get to a Liverpool v southampton game on a Friday night without taking time off work etc..

Dont know why but Friday night is taboo in the UK. When i was last over there i suggested more games should be played on Friday nights, no one could give me a decent answer but nearly everyone said no. The only excuse that sounded plausible was that it is hard to allocate large numbers of police to these matches as Friday nights are generally a busy night for them and they cant spare the men. Ive got rellies in the UK still and they dont know why either

You know my thoughts on him Bully, the guy is a plodder. The EPL is way too quick for him.
I think the only value he adds is his height, he should be getting in there and heading away free kicks and corners but once again he was exposed on tuesday, his job is to defend against goals like Wolves scored midweek.
He has slightly adjusted to the EPL but he had to, he was woeful at start of season.
When Arsenal have a full side to choose from im not sure he makes your best XI
