As mentioned earlier, Arsenal players were horrified by what happened to their team mate on the weekend and replays would not be had as to the gruesome nature of the injury.
Here is an idea as to what the player suffered.

Where did you fine those pics Smithy ?

Bloody horrible, and a shocking tackle there from Taylor....

Incidents like that really do show how lucky some blokes are when they walk
away from like tackles every week....

Did Taylor get a card or what was the deal ?

Taylor got a red card and the 1st half went for 55 mins due to the hold up.
Eduardo was given oxygen and the players were quite bviously and understandably distraught.

Great reaction from the Brummie fans, once they realised how serious the injury was. Everyone stood and gave him a standing ovation when he was stretchered off.

I was watching the game (nothing else on!) and thought it was another sook lying on the ground again. I didn't think anymore of it as I'm too used to soccer players crying wolf.
Still, soccer is a wimps sport.People get hurt playing golf, big deal

BTW who was the Man City(or was it Coventry?) player who suffered a similar
injury in the early-mid '90s, only the break was in the shin?

Think you'll also find, that whilst it still happens, "diving" in the EPL is more infrequent than any other league in the world.

Let's also not forget that players are unable to use their hands so when vying for headers head to head contact is always a possibility.

Not saying the game is "harder" than Rugby or Aussie Rules or anything, just that it only gets it's soft reputation from certain individuals (whilst there's a lot of them they're still the minority) feining injury.

Basketball is supposed to be a non-contact sport, but with the size of the bodies banging into each other would you call that "soft" aswell?

Incorrect, basketball is not supposed to be a non-contact sport and isn't (screening and taking charges is a legitimate part of the game which is very physical and involves a lot of contact), are you getting confused with netball as that's supposed to be a non-contact sport?
I found basketball more contact than footy because of the tight spaces involved and the fact it was easier to catch others in a smaller area.

Was a player named David Busst who played for Coventry. Never played again I think. Peter Schmiecel threw up on the pitch when he saw the injury, thats how bad it was.

No Im not getting confused with Netball, although I could understand how a Roosters supporter might think that

Still doesn't change the point I was trying to make, as some footy supporters who don't follow the sport closely enough, will deem it "soft" compared to Aussie Rules, when it's clearly not.

Been a couple of bad ones, Djibril Cisse and Henrik Larsson's broken legs also come to mind.

I still think you must be confused as basketball has never been a non-contact sport, it promotes fair contact like footy does.
You said basketball is supposed to be a non-contact sport and that statement is incorrect, it is meant to be a contact sport.

*Sigh* ok, yes I was mistaken, you are quite correct mate, as per usual you are right and I was wrong, Basketball is indeed a contact sport and I should have rectified that in my last post ... Now is there anything I've said wrong here or can we get back to the Soccer?

No worries mate, crikey, basketball is one of the few sports where its within the rules to take out a guy who hasn't even got possession of the ball, probably the most contact sport going around behind Gridiron.
(no need for the sigh or smart arse response though, I think that's a bit uncalled for)
Try that in soccer and you'd be banned for 5 years! :?
