Considering what the various goverments pay for Grand Prix and Indy Car racing to come to town because of the tourism and consumer spending that it promotes, we should be looking at bringing over some games from the EPL or Championship into Australia.

I realise its a long way to go, yet considering EPL also programme games closer together than AFL, I am sure its not that great an obstacle to overcome!

Imagine Manchester playing Liverpool at the MCG, I think the tickets would go pretty fast!

Probably would go quick. But if they did a Man U v 'Pool thing it'd happen in Tokyo / Seoul / Beijing etc.

Couldn't see a game like that being played for points at the 'G.

Don't know how they would schedule it as the "big' four Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool, always or just about
will also have to contend with going deep into the FA Cup, Champions League, World Club championships etc..

A lot of games for them to contend with, let alone the week they'd need to set aside for the return trip to Oz...

If anything we may get lucky and get a Spurs v Villa or a West Ham v Man City game i.e middle of the table sides
without too many other commitments (although UEFA Cup could play a part)...

A Championship game would be good at the Docklands, but it'd have to be two pretty well supported sides i.e Derby
v Birmingham to get people to go. Couldn't see too many lining up to watch Burney v Blackpool

Perhaps another reason to host EPL games in Australia could be to make our case for being able to host the World Cup!

I would be fairly confident that any championship game would be popular, largley because of the high skill level that is involved. It may well be "Championship", yet few sides in Australia would get even remotley close to a championship team if they were to play against them!

EPL is growing as a spectator sport around the world, so who knows, maybe it is a chance of happening at some stage!

true, but as usual they whoever comes to play they will send a so called reserve side, doubtful the big stars that play in the teams would travel. we would suddenly get the so called ' injuries ' when they are scheduled to play here

It won't happen, it will be a bit of a farce anyway. Why should the EPL need to play games on the other side of the road? It would have to be two big teams as well, you couldn't have Hull vs Stoke or something.

i know i would travel to which ever city hosts it in oz to watch it whom ever is playing

No club would agree to play over here unless they made MORE $$ for it (althoug TV $$ could play a part) and with the exchange rate between the pound and AUD, coupled with the already exorbitant cost of some tickets, you vould be talking some ridiculous prices over here.

I went to the Spurs v Man U game last season and paid 71 pounds face value for the ticket. At present the exchange rate is $2.05AUD per pound, so that ticket would cost $146, compared to about a year ago when the exchange rate was $2.50AUD per pound when the same ticket would cost $178.

Anyway, for me the cost isn't important because nothing beats seeing an EPL game live. It's brilliant.

Yeah I know the rate is much better now bud, but as you said a face value ticket at $146 upward would rule out a lot of punters ... I'm same as you - if the Redmen came to Oz I'd probably pay ANY amount to watch them, but I reckon after 20,000 or 30,000 people did that it could be a struggle to fill the house.

Although I think you might have your mind on another date. Rams v Forrest has been a long time since that happened. All police leave is cancelled
