Indian billionaire moves in on Goodison Park takeover after meeting with Kenwright

The cavalry could be on the way to Goodison Park - in the shape of the Indians.
Anil Ambani, the world's sixth-richest man with an estimated fortune of £20bn, has declared his intention to buy a Premier League club - with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright looking to persuade the 49-year-old to throw the cash his way.
Indian Tycoon Ambani has already looked at Newcastle and Liverpool but his advisers steered him away from the mess at St James’ Park while Anfield’s American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have fought off previous takeover bids.

That has left Ambani seriously considering a deal for Everton accordind to reports in the Mirror - especially as Kenwright wants to step aside.
Kenwright and Ambani have already met but with Everton's future at Goodison uncertain, the club's value is therefore affected but Ambani has the millions to take over the club - and pump money into it.

Kenwright announced after the club's EGM earlier this month that he is ready to sell, which attracted interest from several consortiums.
Ambani, chairman of the financial company Reliance Group, made enquiries through an intermediary.
The talks have progressed slowly but Ambani remains interested in moving into English football and Everton are a big club in need of major financial investment.
Ambani is deeply interested but even if his talks do not progress, it seems certain that the club will fall into foreign hands with several brokers negotiating buy-outs.
Kenwright, a lifelong Everton fan, wants the club to be able to compete with the big four and to have the funds to either redevelop their stadium or move. He said recently: 'I do not want to be here next year. I do not want to be standing in front of you saying, "It's been another tough season' and 'I don't know where the money is". I would sell tomorrow.'

In terms of an investment though, the Toffees is probably a brilliant choice. Excellent support, widely known brand, decent current squad and manager with some good recent results. The gap between Everton and the top 4 is much smaller than Man Citeh, Newcastle and the like. Plus he'll probably pick it up reasonably cheap and with a 20bn quid fortune, there's no problems finding the cash to build a new stadium if he choses.

but if everyone is taken over by a foreign billionaire, won't we be back to a level playing field then?

Nah, Newcastle and Spurs will still be rubbish

And Everton are OUT of the UEFA Cup after losing to Standard Liege.

Can't help but a little at that from the safety of a place in the group stages .

Portsmouth in a bit of striff at the moment too.

CAHILL DENIES OZ EXIT PLAN

Tim Cahill has hit out at claims that he will quit Everton when his current contract expires and return to play football in Australia.
The midfielder, 28, is contracted to the Goodison Park club until 2012, and insists that he will want to stay in the English game after that deal runs out.

Cahill said: "Everyone knows that I am fiercely proud of my roots and that perhaps one day I may play club football back home but to say that I will be doing it at the end of my current deal is simply not true. I am 28 and, with all due respect, when my contract expires I would hope that I will still have a few more years left at this level of the game. The English Premier League is the best in the world and it has the best players so I have absolutely no plans to move on."

However, it seems likely that when Cahill's career in the UK does come to an end, he would like to finish playing the game back home.
It had been suggested that he could sign for South Coast FC, who hope to join the elite A-League in Australia in time for the 2010-11 campaign.

He was reported as saying: "Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to round off my football life playing for a team that I'm convinced will get a licence to join the competition sooner rather than later."
However, Cahill has stressed those comments have been taken out of context, and he would like a further deal in England when his current contract expires.

You can't blame him for wanting to stick it out in England for a bit longer. The way he's playing, he'll be right until he's 50! GUN!

Everton manager David Moyes has made Michael Owen his top transfer target, according to reports.

The Newcastle striker is set to leave St James' Park for free this summer as his contract with the relegated club is up.

He supported Everton as a boy and will be doing all he can to stay in the Premier League.

However, it is thought the Toffees want to halve his £110,000-a-week wages and install a pay-as-you-play clause in the deal.

Wigan and Aston Villa are also thought to be interested in the former Liverpool and Real Madrid player.

Would certainly add even more spice to the local derbies ... Whilst I hate the Blue Noses, David Moyes has done an exceptional job with them (actually wouldn't surprise me if he's the next Manc boss) but you'd think picking up someone as injury prone as Owen would be a backward step.

wow that would be funny if owen went to everton. Might be some LFC supporters that might start disliking him...
