b4st4rd rovers Season 2008/9

Postby johntheclaret » Tue Dec 16, 2008 9:54 am

Well it had to come sooner or later.........didn't it

Lying 2nd bottom 5 points adrift and no win in 11, I think it's about time we had at least some discussioin on them now that they are becoming newsworthy for the right reasons.

I posted in another thread that I didn't think wInce would last until Jan and that big Sam has "allegedly" bought a pad only 8kms away.

this story seems to blow that theory out of the water. Hmmm

Thanks to the Daily Mail

Big Sam keen on Sunderland vacancy but rejects Rovers link

Sam Allardyce has ruled himself out of the running to succeed under-fire Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince but admitted he is interested in the vacant Sunderland post.
Ince is under pressure at Ewood Park after Rovers' sixth-straight Barclays Premier League defeat this weekend at Wigan, and it is understood a decision on the manager's future will be made by the club's unhappy board of directors this week.
Allardyce was one of three people shortlisted for the post in the summer, but he insists he has no connection to the role now.

Paul Ince’s future at Blackburn will be decided in 24 hours

Meeting with Blackburn hierarchy delayed by wedding

Paul Ince was given a stay of execution yesterday because of a wedding, but the Blackburn Rovers manager will have to employ his best persuasive powers if he is to remain in charge by the time Stoke City visit Ewood Park on Saturday.

Mark Hughes must be pretty thankful to his old mate Ince. The Gov'nor is making Hughes look like a genuis for keeping Rovers competitive for so long.

Great bit of business.........FOR THE CATS

Thanks to The Sporting Life

DIOUF SEALS ROVERS SWITCH

El-Hadji Diouf has completed his move to Blackburn from Sunderland, for a fee of £2million.

After spending three years together at Bolton, Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce and Diouf are again reunited at Ewood Park.

Allardyce said: "He is a talented player. He can be a little wayward, as everybody knows, but hopefully I'll be able to control him as much as I did when I was at Bolton."

And he is convinced Diouf will win over the Rovers boo-boys who have never forgiven a player viewed as a cheat.

It is a deal that does not sit well with Rovers supporters, who voiced their criticism and concern when the 28-year-old was first linked with a move to Blackburn.

Diouf has always been roundly jeered whenever he has faced Rovers, stemming back to an incident four years ago when he dived to win a penalty for Bolton in a game at Ewood Park.

Replays showed then goalkeeper Brad Friedel made no contact with Diouf, who won the game by firing home the rebound after the American goalkeeper had saved the initial spot-kick.

Rovers gaffe spells trouble: 'Satna' Cruz won't be impressed with Blackburn kit clanger

If Blackburn are desperate to keep hold of Roque 'Satna' Cruz, they have a funny way of showing it.
Someone at the Ewood Park club can't even spell his name right, judging by the shirt he wore against Hull on Sunday.

The Paraguay striker's moniker has been (correctly) on the scoresheet 29 times since he signed from Bayern Munich 20 months ago - form that has seen Manchester City pursue the talisman since the summer.

And, unbelievably, Rovers have got form for getting their 'Ts' and 'Ns' the wrong way round.
David Bentley suffered the same shame as Santa Cruz when he faced Manchester United at Old Trafford in November 2007.

And here's the proof

That the trouble DA. Spurs signed the wrong player. Betnley is still at rovers, in the reserves keeping a low profile whilst Arry has to make do with with an £18m flop from Barnoldswick Rovers

It's called Care in the Comminity Gadj. they have to find emplyment for the meantally challenged mate. It's a new government scheme to get the educationally disabled off the streets and into work

Blackburn (there I have said it), have excelled and beaten all their targets in this area. They have even found places in the team for them.

Hehehe, very good JTC....

I'm happy to be a barsted Blackburn supporter. Nothing wrong with the underdog proving others wrong from time to time. Let's just hope we stay in the top grade and shove it up a couple of the bigger named teams.

Seeing the pictures above, our catchcry should be "we may not be brite (sic), but we sure can play football*"
