Adelaide have NO BALLS... since getting past the ACL semi-finals, they've completely collapsed as a team. They don't look like they have it in them to finish off the season and it's probably in everyone's interest if they just bow out to Queensland.

Vidmar should be sacked. He has no managerial experience and while things are going well, he is obviously flying high, but yet again we're subjected to one-dimensional, uninventive football from this team up forward.

Last week it was countless moves down the wings and crosses to nobody. Might as well have been passing it to me. It didn't work and they were completely embarrassed and lucky not to finish the game 4-0 or 5-0 down. This week they put up the same game plan. Lets all run down the wing, when we do have the ball that is, and cross it, once again, to almost no one, hoping that somehow, its knocked into the net. Melbourne continue to attack through the middle, through-balls between our defenders to someone with a yard of space who can fire on goal with accuracy. Melbourne are laughing their arses off...

What a total disgrace this side is... 4 seasons into the A-league and they are bridesmaids time and time again. They have not won a single final within 90 minutes, that says it all...

I feel for the fans over there, they should have their entire trip reimbursed to them by the players as they've been dished up a truly woeful performance. I can only hope I don't have to sit through another 6-0 GF drubbing.

OMG... barely 2 mins into the second half and now its 4-0... looks like I'll see 6-0 tonight let alone the GF...

For God's sake, they should just forfeit, they don't deserve to make the GF, it'll be another complete and total embarrassment. I've not seen a club just give up like this for a long, long time. I remember when Manchester United won 9-0 over Ipswich Town I reckon, I can't even remember Ipswich giving up like this team. What a total embarrassment to the entire league and competition. All the good work and praise they received from their ACL run has been flushed down the toilet. All anyone is going to remember was the amazing demise of the team in such a short space of time.

Commentators said Adelaide have scored 6 away goals this year in total. Say it all really. Very lucky to be there at all :(

The poor away goal tally is certainly an issue... but I wouldn't mind not scoring away if the team actually attempted to score, which they don't appear to be able to do these days.

It would be a fair result tonight to see Melbourne win 6-0 and 8-0 on aggregate. The problem is I can't see the club taking a stand and making an example of Vidmar for this shameless performance. I'm not anti-Vidmar, I just think the way the team is playing shows how it is being drilled and they're being drilled to cross and hope, otherwise the team would have some sort of game plan going through the centre... But we can see it as plain as day that they have no instinct to attack fast, no instinct on how to play through balls and know where your attacking team mates will be, the build up is always slow and measured...

... and that my friends is just piss poor.

The team is a total f###ing joke and I feel they are just waiting for the season to end. I don't think they have any belief in themselves at all and it shows on the field.

I know I'm rambling here... but they've ruined my night and for that they deserve all my contempt. I was looking forward to tonight, hoping like hell they might be 1-0 up at half-time and really make it an interesting game to watch.

Melbourne Victory 1-0 up after 5 mins. Great. Thanks.

Gamba Osaka 1-0 up after 5 mins. Great. Thanks.

That ACL lost was also the biggest loss in ACL history. So we hold that record and the record loss in the AL GF too.

Oh proud as punch we are...

Geez this must be what its like to follow Liverpool.

Where has Christiano been in the last half of the season?
What happened to our crisp passing?
Why has Oggy decided everyone needs to be taken out - he was selective in the past?
Why does Dodd go missing at crucial times?
Why are we so bluffed by that prick Muscat?

So many questions, all have to be answered if we are to shake this monkey, IF we make the grand final.

Very noticeable in tonights match;

Missing in action or looking totally disinterested, Dodd, Pantelis, Alameo, Cornthwaite, Read, Christiano,Cassio;

How in the hell do you expect to win anything when more than half your team is "off with the pixies"?
It isn't any wonder that Melbourne scored at will when their players were allowed to run around unmarked by guys who resembled "seeing eye dogs" minus an owner!

csbowes

What a rant!

Fair enough too by the sounds of it. Although sometimes it's not the coach, but the players that need to be held accountable and made an example of. Too often the coach is hung out to dry, while the players continue to be paid stupid money to underperform.

I haven't seen either of these performances by Utd, but I don't think sacking Vidi is the way to go just yet.

Normally I'd agree... coaches do sometimes cop what the players surely deserve... but in this instance, the way the team attacks, I can't believe it is going against all his instructions and drills... he must be pushing the go wide, cross, scramble it in plan.

That second goal was soooooooooooooooo embarrassing it was amazing... how can four players, Dodd included, sit back, outside the box while that one knob walked in, took out his deck chair, had a read, then popped the ball in, un-harrassed.

Amazing.

Gobsmacking.

Horses for courses though mate. Sometimes you have to play with width. If a team parks the bus, there's no point trying to play down the middle of the park - far better to play with width, cross it in and try to catch a defender napping. And on the scramble it in bit - the great Alan Shearer used to tell his team mates "don't even look for me, just whip it in and I'll be there". Obviously the Utd boys weren't there tonight.

Agree though, it's up to the manager to identify what's going right/wrong and shuffle the team accordingly.

Im not sure what CCM have to do with Adelaide City's proud finals record compared to Adelaide United's shocking finals record.
I just miss the days of this state having a soccer side that we could be proud of.

For what its worth I don't think its all doom and gloom as Im not as fickle as some AU supporters, I think they'll beat Queensland and have a 40/60 chance of winning the GF, soccer is a game of luck at times.
