Newcastle really are in the gutter.

PROFITABLE END INTEREST IN MAGPIES

Thanks to The Sporting Life

The Profitable Group have ended their interest in a takeover of Newcastle, with their commercial director Steve McMahon criticising club owner Mike Ashley for a lack of "communication and response" to their bid.

McMahon's group were among a number of bidders, thought to include consortia from Malaysia and America, attempting to purchase the troubled north-east club following their relegation to the Championship.

The former Liverpool midfielder told the Evening Chronicle: "We have pulled out. How long can you keep hanging on? We have put a bid in and we have had no communication, no response - nothing. It really is poor form from Newcastle, but if that's the way they want to run their business, good luck to them."

TRIO JAILED OVER RAMS TAKEOVER

Three men involved in the fraudulent takeover of a former Premier League football club were jailed on Monday.

Jeremy Keith, former chief executive of Derby County Football Club, ex-finance director Andrew Mackenzie and former director of football Murdo Mackay were all handed prison sentences at Northampton Crown Court after it was found that they claimed "secret commission" in the deal. Keith, 41, of Abingdon, Oxfordshire, was sentenced to 18 months after previously being found guilty of falsifying documents when he and his associates bought the club for just £3 in 2003. Mackenzie, 55, of Burton Road, Derby, and 53-year-old Mackay, of Fife, Scotland, were each jailed for three years after they were found guilty of fraud.

Hey Jabber, watched M,ears for the 1st time at the weekend. Wasn't impressed mate. looks way too small to play right back, and just couldn't read the play. Ended up getting pulled at 1/2 time.

Just hope he was having an off day as he was well beaten by a league one winger.

Neither Beckford or Delph travelled with Leeds to Burnley on Saturday. Delph has subsequently moved to Villa, so does Beckford absence mean that there will soon be news about a move for him ??

If ever a ref could be accused of favouring one side over the other, then it must be today at Deepdale.

Firstly he adds on 4 minutes of extra time.
Then with the full four minutes up he awards Preston a corner.
Bristol clear the ball out, eventually, for another corner.
From the second corner he awards preston a penalty
Preston score, they kick off and he blows for full time.

On the basis that they had already played more than 4 minutes, where the hell did the additional time come from for Preston to take two more corneres and then win a penalty that neither the PNE or Bristol players knew what for.

So according to the ref, he must have awarded the penalty with 1 second left of play. Hmmmmmm

Reminds me of Spurs v Man U in 2008. 3 minutes of time was added. 3 minutes played, Spurs 1-0 up. 4th minute - 36,000 yids yelling at the ref to blow his F*%#ing whistle. 5th minute - Utd awarded a corner. Tevez scores. 1-1 final result.

It's a disgrace.

Agreed Bully. Middlesboro lack a forward target and Sheffield, despite bring ing new players, still play the hoof and run style. I guess they always will whilst Blackwell is in charge and that means they will always play CCC football too. And unless Boro bring in a forward who can get 15+ goals a season, so will they.

Watched the WBA v Toon game live yesterday too. pretty good game but bloody hell, didn't the Newcastle players drop thier heads when the Baggies scored. they did pull themselves together though and I think I might have underestimated thier chances this year, based on yesterdays performance.

Keegan gets his compensation but it is less than the £9m he was after.
More interesting is the story behind the shenanigans at Newcastle.

Thanks to the Daily Mail

Kevin Keegan gets his revenge:

Newcastle legend wins £2m and blows the lid on secrets and lies behind club's transfer dealings.
Kevin Keegan was asked to sign an obscure Uruguayan midfieder based on blurred clips from YouTube as 'a favour' to two South American football agents, it was revealed on Friday.

As Keegan was awarded £2million by the Premier League's arbitration tribunal for constructive dismissal, the grim details surrounding his resignation as Newcastle manager were published in full.

The hearing also lifted the lid on the shambolic way Newcastle was run and the only good thing to come out of it is that the verdict is expected to hasten the sale of the club.

some of the goings on at Toon are unbelievable. The story is well worth a read.
