EPL Discussion Thread 2010/2011

Postby devilsadvocate » Tue Jun 01, 2010 10:53 am

I thought I'd kick off a new EPL thread for the coming season.

Well done to Blackpool on promotion, buuuuut:

Blackpool are 500/1 to win the Premier League next year.

Which means if you put just £20 on them at the start of the season, you will lose £20.

Just so the Geordies don't feel left out on the welcome back:

A Newcastle fan travels to London for a game against Chelsea. She arrives in Heathrow and gets in a cab to head to the game. Once in the cab, the Geordie lifts her skirt and says "can I pay with this?".

The cabbie says "bugger me luv, haven't you got anything smaller"...

Next season's fixtures have been released:

http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headlines/0,,12306~2072453,00.html

Here you can sort them by team etc:

http://fixtures365.teamtalk.com/?dee...1fQUxM,00.html

For some completely gay legal reason, you're not allowed to reproduce the fixtures without permission, but who cares...reproduce away!!

I'm bloody happy with Spurs first 6 games. If we can beat Citeh on opening day, I dont see why we couldn't be top after 6 games. (Having said that we were shite againt all of the promoted sides last year)

Sad to see my beloved Hull City go down, but hopefully we can get debt free and climb back into the premierleague where all the major cities of england should be.

According to the official population figures:

4 Leeds
5 Sheffield

So you won't get any argument from the fans of Sheffield United or Wed, Bristol City or Rovers, the Mighty Foxes or Coventry! Get in the queue! LOL

And SVEN???

Was told mid June about this but was told (in no uncertain terms) to stay off boards.
The deal was done then, SVEN wanted to wait 'till end of WC commitments

England under-21 starlet Dan Gosling has walked out of Everton for nothing - after the Premier League ruled he was free to quit over an amazing administrative mistake.

Gosling argued that he could leave at the end of his contract without any fee on his head because the Goodison outfit had failed to put an offer in writing to him.

And the Premier League carried out a full inquiry, with statements from both Gosling's camp and Everton, before deciding the Merseyside club had slipped up - with the player allowed to go on a free transfer.

Everton wanted Gosling to sign a new deal, with chairman Bill Kenwright making verbal offers but failing to put that in writing by the mid-May cut-off point.

Now David Moyes's club will miss out on a fee. They could have made around £4million at a tribunal if Gosling joins a rival Premier League club.

Versatile Gosling was in and out of Moyes's team over the past two seasons, with his personal highlight being the FA Cup replay winner over Liverpool. He had also been stalling on a new deal for football reasons as he wants to play more often.

Gosling is recovering from knee ligament surgery and will not be able to play for around three months. However he is now clear to speak to any club and negotiate his own terms.

Sunderland and Newcastle United are heading the chase, with West Ham also alerted about his availability. Gosling told the Premoer League tribunal that he has not spoken to any other team, but now he will be heading for a round of talks.

The result is a bitter blow for cash-conscious Everton who will be bitter about the outcome. Senior officials all put their case to the inquiry but one basic mistake has cost them a fortune.

Whoever picks this bloke up will have a future international on their hands, sad to see him leave Everton but we can't have all the young superstars :)

I read that overnight cossi - terrible news for Everton and piss poor on Gosling's behalf.

It probably shows a bit about the character of the bloke, so maybe he'll turn out a flop?

He's bloody good though.

I guess in his defence he is still behind the pecking order for the first team... He is behind Rodwell obviously but with his future looking to be in CD once we start losing the likes of Neville, Osman, Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta in a couple of years he would be a walk up starter, seems he is frustrated at no opportunities but he needs to wait his turn, it would of come!

Hopefully he is a flop...
