To add some context to the above:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/02/newcastle-sol-campbell-fans-fat-patheticNewcastle's Sol Campbell says fans who called him fat are 'pathetic'
• Newcastle fans react to unflattering photographs of new signing
• 'Don't they know I've just got married,' says Campbell
Newcastle United's Sol Campbell, pictured during during a training session last week. Photograph: Owen Humphreys/PA Newcastle's new signing Sol Campbell has described criticism of his physical condition as "pathetic" and vowed he will be back to peak fitness "in three or four weeks".
The 35-year-old former England centre-back was labelled "fat belly" on Magpies' supporters' message boards after the publication of a less-than-flattering training photograph over the weekend. Campbell accepts he has work to do but claims his current state is no cause for concern.
"It's pathetic," he told Soccernet. "I had been training for three days – just three days. I am three weeks behind everyone else in pre-season. Don't they know I have just got married and been on honeymoon?
"I accept that the picture wasn't flattering, and I do need to catch up on my level of fitness, but the training kit was not very flattering and showed up all sorts of things. The truth is that I am now in better shape than when I started off back at Arsenal after a long lay-off. I got myself back into shape at Arsenal, and I think I had a reasonably good end half of the season."Who ate all the cock? Who ate all the cock?
You fat bastard, you fat bastard
You ate all the cock

What a crazy world Toonland must be. Hammer local rivals 5-1, go to the Emirates and win, then lose at home to possibly the worst footballing side in the division.
Ok winning at the Emirates is no great achievement these days, it's hardly a fortress as even WBA won there this year but for a Toon fan this year must feel very strange.
At least it helps to keep the league interesting

Bizarrely Chris Houghton was sacked as manager this week.
Alan Pardew is set to be the next manager.
So just when the Toon need a bit of stability they go and press the self destruct button. Pardew will take them back down in my opinion

Disgraceful act. Need a high profile manager they say. What a joke 7 managers in 3 years, they deserve to be back in championship.
Actually the deserve that loser keegan back

Exactly i thought they were going ok. I tipped them to go down at start of season but i was starting to think they would stay up. Id rather have a no name keep me in the top flight than a high profile manager that gets relegated. That club is a basket case

Pardew has been signed on a 5 and a half year deal.
You got to question decisions by some clubs.
Little wonder clubs get punished for ending up in administration.
Stupid, stupid decision.

So true, why the hell did Sturt get rid of Merv Keane? (just kidding "kindred")
This may well work out alright for the toon, but how often do you see a knee jerk sacking followed by such a longcommittment on the next deal .. Almost as if they're looking for cover should they go down*, when really (whilst they should have an eye on all outcomes) they should be questioning how high they can finish from where they are.
