cant find a link, but the woman who owned the pub in portsmouth beat the EPL in a court over the right to use cheaper tv boxes to show games live.

From what i gather no pubs in england with the broadcasting deal can show games live. I think its BSKYB and ESPN who currently have the rights.

Ive heard that this decision could heavily reduce the amount of the next broadcast deals which then has a direct flow onto the clubs and it may affect the ability of some of the lesser financed clubs to purchase players.

Spot on M5
she was showing games broadcast via Italy or somewhere using a mo re powerful satellite dish where it was costing only a few $$$ instead of the premium rate sky sports price.

She went to court and argued that BskyB were operating restrictive practices and won. It now opens the door for anyone with freeview and a good dish to subscribe to European providers at a knocked down price.

No doubt sky will counteract this by hiking up their export prices so it might actually be bad news for viewers in say....... Australia who will end up paying more.

Still bad news for the EPL though with the loss of income sky will be looking to reduce their sponsorship and most EPL sides survive on the TV money.

Interesting times ahead
