Has been plenty of reports/rumours around for Lallana to Liverpool. I don't take too many of the rumours seriously as a rule.

EPL Transfer Rumours 2013/2014

There would be dozens of players on £200k plus in the EPL so I think 100k for a proven decent defender is well worth it. Id pay him that to come to United.
Dont think he will end up Shiteh, the FFP is going to hurt them over the coming years

yes jimbo, I am aware players are on that much. My point was in response to WB post as he looked shocked with the  emotion on a player being on 100,000 a week where as shrek is on 300,000 as an example. like 100,000 is not much these days ;), just ask van pussy

Yes I think 100k is just an average wage these days in the EPL, plenty wouldnt get out of bed for that little

Dont mind players earning that if the competition generates it. EPL clubs generate millions so its only fair their best players earn a fair portion of it.
United for instance is just about to sign a new shirt deal with Adidas worth £60m/year, Real Madrid is the current best at £31m/year so its a fair increase

Arsenal have just signed with Puma for £30m a year, United's current deal with Nike is £25m a year and Adidas have offered £60m a year, Nike have first right to match that within 2 months or Adidas get the gig

Fair call. And the fact remains that if a top shelfer can't get the wage they're requesting at their current club, they'll get it elsewhere. So hard to fault either the player or the club.

Arsene was asked in a press conference if tomorrows match would be his last home game for Arsenal.

Wenger replied with " Maybe so, you don't know when you are going to die or see the next light of day " :D

United have slipped to 2nd behind Real as the biggest club in the world
Real are worth £3.3bn compared to a paltry £3.16bn for United.
Uniteds earnings rose by £30m last year to £263m and their debt reduced be the same amount. Not sure what missing the CL next year will cost them.
Incidentally Uniteds global brand income earns them twice as much as their nearest rivals Real Madrid.
But on the domestic front but real and Barcelona out gun United on earnings as they collect between them 50% of the total €795m generated from Spanish TV.

Just a few useless facts I know.
And one more, come 1st August a cheque for £49m lands on John B's desk.

You are correct with those figures.
What areas do you need to strengthen?
Will you be looking to EPL clubs or overseas to bolster your squad?

I think we will look to the championship.
I know it sounds stupid but if you put the best played from the Championship into one squad it would be a decent mid table EPL side
I'd look at Deeney from Watford. Dyche knows him which is always a good start.
Even McCormack at Leeds. I did think Conor Wickham who is at Sunderland but since they might stay up after all I think that won't be an option.

We need a centre back as Duff isn't good enough and a left back as Mee is great in the air but a bit slow for the premiership. We also need cover in midfield and one more up front.
Together we need 6 or 8 but financially we wi have to settle for maybe 3 or 4.
Two things are for sure. We won't be spending £12m or anywhere near for a player and we won't go blowing all the money on players and wages. The long term future of the club is the most important thing.

EPL Transfer Rumours 2013/2014

Zelezny Chucks wrote:I'm not sure he is even a lock to go to the WC, I think Hodgson will take a young midfield/forward group, with the exception of Stevie and Rooney, and probably look to have a more experienced lot at the back. Sterling, Sturridge, Henderson and Lallana are certainties barring injury so I am not sure he will be prepared to take a risk at the back on a youngster that is, for the most part, untried at that level. Cole's shift in Madrid would have done him no harm so is probably second in line to Baines at the moment due to his experience IMO.

Shaw is off to Brazil as predicted. Cole didnt make the squad and spat the dummy.
The Shaw deal to United sounds as good as done, Soton have apparantly accepted the fee now its just United and Shaw haggling over the fine print
