What he had to work with is what Ferguson left behind
Half the squad won't be there next year and not because they are moving on to bigger, better things. How is he suppose to motivate those players.
He had to follow the greatest manager in history, one who hasn't actually left but continues to sit in the stands like a ghost from Christmas past and who makes comments to the press.
Personally I think the job was a poisoned challis from the off. I also think Ferguson knew exactly what he was doing when he resigned last year.

Spot on I reckon! Any chance Fergie could jump back into the chair for a bit?

None at all and why would he want to. They are in a mess.
He is however heading up the selection panel for the next manager.

Wait a minute.....didn't he pick Moyes ?

Giggs era starts with a 4-0 win over Norwich. Rooney and Mata with a brace, opposition wasnt flash but the side looked far hungrier

Another shameful pathetic performance by United. Giggs showed that he is not ready for the job with his disgraceful lineup he put on the park. Need a massive cleanout of about a dozen players, hopefully a tough manager like Van Gaal comes in and sweeps a broom through the place and has the guts to end the careers of even United legends

No honeymoon period, he is just a caretaker.
Need someone from outside the club to takeover who isnt affraid to axe players that have won titles galore but are past their use by date. Giggs is still too friendly with them and dont think he is capable of the hard decisions. The players need to wear a majority of responsibility for our shortcomings this season, think everyone knows our squad just isnt good enough

well reading some Manchester united stories on last weekends game it seemed that you just won the league beating Norwich and all hope that was lost had returned.

and reading a post from you also ^^^^^ look up there ^^^^^ saying that "they look far hungrier " under giggs to me says what most have been saying from Manchester over the past few days

You know it is possible for both to share the blame.
You will see I have always blamed both.
The players are simply not up to it and our list isnt good enough. Moyes was also to blame because he was the one picking these guys each week, his team selection was poor and often played guys out of position. He also had no plan B and was tactically poor. His debacle at last years trade period didnt help also.
I think alot of fans were wrong in thinking everything will be ok when Moyes took over, I am guilty of believing our list was better than it is. No doubt a huge job to turn is around and a change of coach wont fix it

Sound like Arsenal supporters then
Wenger is apparantly outdated and cant coach but the players are no good according to supporters.

Definately looked hungrier and he made some good moves last week as he did last night. He has made more good moves in 2 games than Moyes did all season. Just like most sports you usually get a false form spike when a club changes coach. Have no doubt Giggs will be a fine coach and hopefully with us down the track but ive always said guys need to coach elsewhere for a few years to get away from the old boyd club that all sides have. Giggs has already talked about giving his mates Rio, Evra and Carrick new contracts, thats why we need someone from outside the club to come in that has no ties and will get rid of these oldies
