Aston Villa ousted 0-1 at home by League 1 side Leyton Orient.
No excuse will wash.

I honestly believe that if Villa was in League 1 (with Paul Lambert as manager) they'd struggle to gain promotion.

That's a high score. I nearly said it was some accurate penalty taking but it could have been 35 pens apiece

31 Penalties in the match and two not given that should have been .. Crazy shit!!

We never do anything easily at Anfield. Looking at the highlights, despite some poor LFC defending, Borough looked to have some really enterprising passages of play.

Anyone know if that set any records? Didn't see any mention of the most penalties in a shoot out in the match report.

Not a record
African cup game had a 17-16 penalty shoot out with 13 missed

Fifth round fixtures

Derby County v Chelsea
Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United
Bournemouth v Liverpool
Sheffield United v Southampton

Saints knocked off Stoke at the Britannia this morning. Stoke were 2-0 down after half an hour but dominated the second half to pull it back level in the 82nd minute. Crouch makes two bad challenges in a minute and is sent off in the 86th, from the resulting free kick Saints go forward and score their winner.

Newcastle knocked off man city at the Etihad

Everyone's favourites MK Dons fell at home to fellow league 1 Sheffield Utd after two late goals (86 & 90th minutes)

Derby put 5 past Fulham and Bournemouth beat West Brom.

I'd love to see Derby, Sheffield Utd and Bournemouth all go through and then have both finalists non EPL, when was the last time that has happened?

Liverpool 19 shots to 2!
Anyone else think the two legged format in the league cup is a joke?
As the away goals rule doesnt apply it means todays result means absolutely nothing, both sides head to the second leg at 0-0

Ive only seen the highlights and was all us, probably the best we've looked all season. Lack of strikers is still going to place a ceiling on how far we can go this season I think, but if we keep playing as we did today, it should be a reasonable finish to the season.
