Glenn Roeder has resigned as manager of Newcastle United, reports Five Live.
The Magpies have had a torrid time with injuries this season, finishing 13th in the Premiership and failing to shine in the cup competitions.
Newcastle have not scored a league goal at St James' Park in over eight hours of playing time, which is their worst run since 1951.
Roeder and chairman Freddy Shepherd came under fire from fans after their home defeat by Blackburn on Saturday
Thank god he is gone! All you hear is excuses, and it has been everyone else's fault except his own.
Looking forward to a positive season and some quality signings.

newcastle should look at someone like claudio ranieri to take over. He is good a nurturing young talent as did at chelsea before they became chelski, players like terry, huth, c. cole and j. cole. also 3 players he use to manage at chelsea are a newcastle duff, babayaro and parker (which in his book he rated to be a player that would be the future of a club). also we will have classic interviews once again "desailly red card, not good. intensity good. win good. week next hopefully we win again"

Was Duff at Chelsea under Ranieri or part of the Mourinho era?
Big Sam has been an excellent manager, and particularly wily on the transfer front with a club that's had buggerall $$ to splash ... I'd think he could do an excellent job with Newcastle if they were to get him.

Ranieri bought duff when Abramovich first got to chelsea for £17 million from blackburn.
Yeah Big Sam would be a good but it looks like man city are gonna get his services, but you never know.

Mate you cant Ranieri any credit for developing those names aprt from Terry, Joe Cole West Ham product, Duff Blackburn, Huth couldnt get a game, Carlton cole only everr made 9 starts for chelsea and struggled to start since joing the Hammers.
There are few names already being touted about, with Allardyce a good chance, but I think there may big name manager who is not British.

never said Ranieri developed duff, also huth he did develop and he was getting more and more gigs, then the money came in and there went his chances. Joe cole maybe a west ham product but his game has developed ten folds since getting to chelsea and ok carlton cole did turn out the greatest, but anyway the point i was actually trying to make is that he could develop the squad and make it competitive and have newcastle finishing in the european places

Dead cert that Allardyce will be manager next year. If they are offerring odds, then get your money on it.
Not sure about Joe Cole developning under Mourinho. He and Robben are the two biggest cheats in ELP IMO. He has gone backwards in those stakes. Was a good honest player at WHU and don't forget it was their development of him through the youth ranks that got him the big bucks deal at Chelski.
As for becoming a better player, that is pure conjecture as he is with a bigger club with better players. You are not quoting like for like. Look at Bent at Charlton or King at Watford. Bent is 3rd on the top scorers list this year and Charlton got relegated. It's about the quality of the team around you. Cole has far more freedom to go forward and rove than he did at WHU.
Ferdinand at WHU is another. Lets see how his career pans out should he leave West Ham and sign for one of the big boys.
On another note: Shame about Charlton getting relegated. Watched the last game against Spurs. It was interesting to see that both Berbatov and former son DeFoe, barely celebrated their goals. Whilst the Spurs fans were all lapping up the victory and the goals (and quite rightly too, as any fan loves to see their club score and win), was interesting to see that the Spurs team were not celebrating the fact that they had just sent Charlton down. Just show how players have a diffeent perspective on the result than the fans. Nice touch too from DeFoe to go straight to Charlton manager Pardew and put his arm round him. Like I say, shame about Charlton, they were / are one of the nice teams in the EPL with few enemies and no players that you love to have. Unfortunately those players, like Shrek, Ronaldo at Man U, Douff at Bolton, anyone from Chelski, etc are the ones that win games. some thing missing at Charlton.
