Plus the extra he will get paid once he is 28. Which is simply due to the contract he had with the club in 2013.

Well that contract is null and void now isn't it when your club made the decision to put all your AFL players in the same side, so that's your problem. Although you did go back to the league to get special permission since that decision was made, so maybe the league would have to compensate. In regards to your other players, as daysofourlives said it's only $400 per league game, so it's not even $400 a week or is it? doubtful many would be on two year contracts either, if so they may need to be paid out by the league, who gives a rats, it's a small price to pay at the end of the day.

The only ones we could keep was the players that where on Port's list, which we still paid a transfer fee for even though they weren't changing teams. Once these players filter through (move on/retire) we will only be taking players from the academy side 18-21 years olds.

The part about taking players from the 18-21 academy side is good (and that's the way it should be) is that the official clubs stance is it? but i don't think it should be when these players choose to retire or choose to move on, the change should be made next year at worst with a one years notice. You can't have the big advantage you have this year for potentially the next four or five years.

The club didn't want to have different top up players from week to week.

If it did get changed who do you think should pay out the contracts of those players?

Huh? Why would you have to select different players each week any more then what you do now, the only difference would be you would have 21 or more academy players to choose from and not the 15 extra players you have now.
