Both my sons were at Round Robin last week also.
They enjoyed themselves, but Fleurieu didn't do as good as the last couple of years - so that was disapointing.
I think the youngest son played a bit better than the eldest one - however eldest was working each morning before going out there to play - so very draining.
Unfortunately I didn't get there this year to take any photos.
What a funny week weather was also - a bit iffy - if not humid/hot - then Friday pouring with rain!!

Pretty sure they enjoyed their 'get together' afterwards - as they all went straight from Hawthorn and 'out for tea' and didn't get home until 9pm Friday night..lol.

Ventured to Kensington-Marryatville Bowls club today for the U35 state championships.

A son had made it into the final 8 and had to play.

I have no finger nails left !!
His first game went like this..
1st set 8-8
2nd set 8-8
Before he won the tie breaker 6-0 to make it to the final 4 !!

This meant playing Adam Forbes/Marion.
He ended up losing his first set, winning the second, coming to another tie breaker,
Unfortunately had the upper hand in the tie breaker playing the shot of his life putting himself in a good position, before Forbes came through with a drive - completely missed the drive that he was trying for, but hit a short bowl which skitled onto Brandons - a domino affect taking kitty with it - kitty respotted 'A son' dropped 3 :(

But oh well - turns out finished equal 3rd (with Nathan Pederson) and got into the prize money - so although disappointed was happy with his bowling, and such a great experience O:)

The marker commented to him that he has the best attitude and demeena on a bowling green than any other U18 he's met...lol.
Nice compliment - he also said not to worry re losing since he had another 20 years in that comp

Winner of the day - young Matthew Northcott - only 17 years old himself.
I wonder if he's the youngest (in the event history) to win this?

He was an entry in the event - first round was held a few weeks ago - but he didn't win his section.

But I'm pretty certain I saw Max there yesterday playing in the state triples this time.

Thanks for that. I used to bowl against Max and his dad Anthony up here. I also played in a couple of tournaments in Max's team and just loved the way he could place a bowl just about anywhere he wanted to.

Well we've come to the end of our bowls season (or almost).

Due to rain, rain and more rain - availability of greens etc - we've still got ongoing club events to finalise.
Youngest son is into the mixed pairs final with his lady partner.
And is still alive in the handicap singles.
So it's still all go on the bowls front here for us..lol.

Both sons were a part of the winning pennant this year.
And congratulations also to Gingernuts on playing in a pennant final O:)

Under 18 & 25 trans tasman is played this weekend at Lockley's bowling club.
Representing Australia for the first time is one of our young girls Renee McPharlin.

If any of you guys are around Lockley's might be worth just dropping in and seeing these youngsters play and supporting our Australian side O:)

Well bowls season is upon us again guys - sure you've been practising ready for pennants :D

I am off to the U18 National Championships next week in Victoria.
I hope to return not only hopefully seeing SA with some medals - but also hoping to take some photos to post up.

Going to be a hard gig for SA - we've got a very hard draw with both QLD and VIC in our sections.
NT have pulled out unfortunately creating a bit of a 'void' - so they have implemented a second Vic side so the kids still get some practice etc between games when they normally would be playing NT.

If anyone wants to keep up with results as each day goes by - here's the link:

What an unbelievable/great week :D

SA did really well finishing 4th overall - the usual suspects filling the top spots - lol - NSW, Vic, QLD.
Our girls collected a bronze medal in the girls singles.
Our boys collected bronze in the boys fours and silver in the boys tripples.
1 of our girls and 1 of our boys were 'picked up' by the national selectors for the U18 Australian squad.
Which is just awesome!!

Some photos from the week.... O:)

Where the event was held - as well as 4 greens outside, had an indoor cycling rink and indoor bowling green.
Was huge.
