Listen to squids. Also you want to keep the lure close to the weed, but not in the weed.

I bought an expensive yozuri one and caught a few the first time I used it, the next day I thought I'd go again and cast it out only for my line to break and watch my expensive jag fly out to yonder :(
Lesson learnt is to replace the line every now and again...

How are other landbased lure flickers going ? Bream have been hard to come by this year .Although I've gotten upto 30cms in my jounery's around the PAt and the odd walk around west lakes .
Slamon Trout on the other hand seem to be in large numbers !!

this 27cm bream from a couple of days ago had a chomp taken out of its dorsal fin sometime in the past

Well thats it I'm off to flick a lure tight lines

Well another low water morning at the pat slightly more water than yesterday. Was very hard to get a hit managed 4 Salmon Trout and one tiny Bream . I'd bought a couple of freshwater trout lures during the week to see if bream would hit them .
The one in this picture caught 3 ST's
Image
The one in this picture caught me a tiny tiny Bream .After which I lost it to a rock grrr
Image
Also tried my Atomic Bream lure which got me of course a ST
So my epic trek continues aiming for larger than 30cm on 2lb braid

What happens when a 40 decides to eat your lure, that 2lb braid is going to be in trouble. I've used 4lb to catch them to about 45cm and my body should not bend on those angles, ever.

At least tell me you are using a long leader

I use 6lb as well, I can't see 4lb so tying knots is ridiculously difficult.

I only use singles instead of trebles these days, might get less fish but easier to release.

I wish you could fish in the Wirrina marina!!! Off the rocks - chuck out a tommie on a pin under a float and cast jags around it....

Off the rocks at Myponga as well - should be able to get tommies and gar there too!

Might have been my luck I was buying 4lb fluro bloody stuff kept breaking off on me .So I went back and bought good old platypus 6lb mono !!
One trout lure I bought has one single barbless hook after two days landed 5 ST's . So single hooks do work on lures !
And as someone who has caught his own finger with a treble you have to be careful

Dont get me started on knots

Ok Mr Willy do the told you so dance  :D

Morning started out ok caught 4 St's lost 3 lost a tiny bream !!
Then when I was almost back to my car after walking and casting most of the PAt.Wham Bam something big hit my orange bellied atomic !! A half a turn on the reel handle and BAM lines snaped .So Mr willy dance away LMAO.I took my rod apart and went home
I replaced the lost lure and bought the same colour in a different brand . Went to replace the leader hmmm Braid has died and gone to god was just snapping in my fingers !!!
Funny I was snagged and the braid held firm !!
So the bigger reel comes back out tomorrow and the braid seems fine !!

went to moonta on the weekend with a mate and his old boy
out saturday morning on the water by 6, we tried for some whiting first, got 5 with quite a few undersize we had to throw back and 1 squid. they werent on the bite to well so we went off to try our luck with gar.
That was a good choice, we burlied up and within minutes we had a massive school off the back of the boat. school of squid came through and we got 4 of them aswell. Ended up with 72 gar, 5 whiting, 5 squid and a few tommies, were back at the ramp by 10:30 and knocking back beers by 12. Was a good day!
