Connection problems again guys, and WOW, what a batting performance from the Heat, in particular Ron Welty with a single home run and then a Grand Slam...

Captain Obvious comment I know, but Adelaide in huge trouble and will almost need a miracle to come back from here and it looks like I'll be back here at Barbagallo tomorrow.

Top of the 6th:

Perth Heat - 8

Adelaide Bite - 1

Another scoreless at bat for the Bite in the bottom of the 6th, although Tony Harris wanted to question a hit from Quincy Latimore about whether the ball came off Q's leg.

Needless to say, the out was called and Perth are in the batter's box now, in form, dangerous and full of momentum - not to mention an almost annoyingly loud Heat crowd !!!

Miracles can happen but I don't think it will be in Perth tonight...

Adelaide managed to peg 1 run back in their 8th inning but Perth got 1 themselves as well...

Tony Harris giving a few of the relieving pitchers a run with Reed Brown, Nick Talbot and now Chris Lawson having a chance with the ball from the mound.

Tomorrow is really set up for a ripper now, obviosuly Perth will have momentum and confidence high but then again, we would have today after the win last night and look what happened.

Looks likely that either Paul Mildren or Dushan Ruzic will be the starting pitcher for the Bite at this stage...

Adelaide now just 3 outs away from losing game 2, and we'll be back here tomorrow afternoon from 12.10pm Perth time...

Bottom of the 9th:

Perth Heat - 9

Adelaide Bite - 2

Well, back at the Caravan Park now after tonight's dissapointing result and am absolutely knackered !!!

Spoke with Tony Harris again post game, and he while he admitted the 8 run inning in the 5th, overall he didn't think we played too bad.

He said that we may have lost the game (tonight) but have no way lost the series. He was confident that the side will bounce back tomorrow with a improved performace.

He also told me that Paul Mildren will be taking the mound as starter for the Bite tomorrow but was unlikely to make any other changes to the line-up.

It's going to be a busy day tomorrow, my mate and I are due to fly out at 5pm Perth time and the game is going to finish some where around the 3.30pm mark then we have a 1/2 drive to the airport, have to drop the hire car off and get to the gate in time !!!

If this final game goes into extra inning, we are going to have to up and leave regardless of the game status.

Anyway, off to bed now, got a long day ahead...

GO BITE...

FINAL SCORES:

Perth Heat - 9

Adelaide Bite - 2

Always good to see Adelaide sides going well in national comps, but I'm afraid baseball is just something I can't get enthused about. I follow it a little, watch a little, but gee it's frustrating.

What is it about the game that is frustrating Graham?

I can understand that G. I am the same with soccer. Just don't understand the game and I hate it when some guy kicks a goal and then does 75 laps of the paddock and shadow boxes the corner post.
Try this. The MLB hits off in USA early April so watch a game and listen to the way the commentators drag out evry known statistic about every ball, every hit, every player. It moves fast and is very exciting and you have to respect the way those players can throw the ball so hard on such a flat trajectory. Comparing our A League soccer to the EPL is analagous to this current baseball series in Perth and the MLB.
Caution! You are now entering the no-spin zone...

Just seems to take so long for anything to happen. 1 run an innings is fast paced by baseball standards. But also the fact that the batsmen can't wait for the ball they want, they have to guess what's coming a bit and then swing and hope because they don't have time.

I've watched MLB. I get the skill and strategy involved, it just seems a bit of a lottery. In fact, I think Baseball is what cricket would be if you took all the best bits of cricket out. Lol.

Soccer I can find hard to watch a lot of the time, and I played it for 10 years!

I thought Rooney's backflip goal overnight was a super effort. But nothing compares with New York Yankees versus Boston Redsox

Well, Sunday is here and this afternoon, we will know who is the first Championship winner of the new and revamped ABL competition...

Have arrived at Barbagallo Ball Park to another typical hot, windy and humid day. Not looking forward to the fact that as soon as the game finishes we are going to have to pack up and rush back to the airport to drop off the hire car and check the bags in.

Here's hoping for a quick game today, prehaps a 1-nil win today to Adelaide...

Game starts in just under an hour Perth time, crowd is starting to build once again...

C'mon Bite, let's return home to Adelaide as the ABL Championship !!!

GO BITE !!!
