The athletics are just about to start. The grass has literally just been laid in the past couple of hours (and the hammerthrow is the first field event ). The track is in an absolutely disgraceful condition and is still not completely fixed.

Just watched some of the 100 m heats and there were problems with the gun and runners not hearing the second shot for a false start.
They had to re-run a heat because of the confusion (several runners completed the full distance).
