Southern end of Sellicks Bch has seen some nice sized (8-12 pound) snapper. Landed off the beach, believe it or not. There's a nice little bombie there, not far from the sign.

Yep I try and tie my own ;) (just been given my second fly vice this one is fantastic)
Been toying with a foam Popper fly then the fish disappeared.
Last Bream I caught was on a Bass gurgler fly(surface fly) i tied a couple years back (had a couple of schoolies hit it once they each lasted about 5 seconds on it before they spat it) .In two weeks I had about 45 small bream leap out of the water and try and eat that Gurgler only had 5 hook ups .
Mainly catch Bream largest so far is only 28cms caught a 26cm Bream on that damn hot saturday a few weeks back. And when i can find them Salmon trout love fighting them on my 6 weight .
And when I'm hunting st's schoolies bob up(not attacking the gurgler) and break me off .great heart starters damn annoying to keep losing them.
I dont tie traditonal flies they are abit beyond me .but there's some talk of a fly tying club starting up on strike and hook .i may go along for a look.always looking at more flies to use in the salt .

Before Jas tells me off for no reports  .Haven't had any luck for a few weeks .but I am about to go on holidays so hopefully i will get some more fish .And more pictures .

cheers
Geez that post dragged on and on
Sorry about that.

With the mullet run comes big dewies go on an out going tide use a 5oz ball running and 8o hook on live bait and bang u will land some 45/80 pound dews something wrong if u cant get one two days before and two days after full moon cast line in at start of mouth and walk along beach till it hits the breakers if no hits start again and get yourself a air raiter to keep bait alive in bucket cost about 20 bucks

Or u could wade the beaches of west Lakes watch for schools of bait fish.Put a bait fish imitation fly amongst them and if the Salmon or ST or schoolies are feeding .hold on to your fly rod ;)
Fake fur from spotlight something that looks like eyes the right size hook Bobs your uncle .

was thinking of wading from taperoo beach to north haven.until i read of 1 1/2 to 2 metre pointer hanging around the break water.

Plus unless u use scent (not saying i do or dont) flies dont smell or attract european wasps . ;)

Plenty of garfish and KG's around at Edithburgh at the moment especiially between Sultana Point and the island, Ace and myself depleted the stocks over there a few weeks back. Mullett are firing in the Coorong and have been since Christmas and there are that many crabs at Thompsons Beach at the moment swimming in with the tide in the afternoon its not funny. Me and mate ended up with 80 pearler Blueys in just over an hour, threw back prob three times that many too. Good way to spend an arvo.
