NRL - Melbourne Storm Crisis

Postby JK » Thu Apr 22, 2010 4:55 pm

Did I just hear correctly on the radio that the Storm have been stripped of their 2 NRL titles for Salary Cap breaches?

$1.7m over the cap over the last 5 years. Presser on TV at the moment. Lost all points and will earn no points in 2010.

Yep have been stripped of their 2 titles and 3 minor premierships

Apparantly the NRL aren't going to do this.

Pretty massive news and and a huge penalty !!
It's incredible to think in this day and age that professional teams still think they can get away with these 'extra contracts' and salary cap rorts...

Could be the end of News Ltd's involvement with the NRL or at least the Storm (who they massively subsidise).

As you would expect they aren't happy:

What does that mean for the players who, I assume, were unaware of the breaches?

I assume they're no longer premiership players? Do they physically have to give back their medallions? What if some of them got an ankle tat??? :?

Can't tell me it wouldn't be happening in the AFL too...
