NRL Comes to Adelaide Oval 10th July

Postby Dutchy » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:29 am

Not sure if this has been announced before or not, just got this in an email from the SACA

On another front, I can today confirm for SACA members that the NRL's Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will be playing the Melbourne Storm at Adelaide Oval on 10 July 2010.
As announced last year the Bulldogs will be making Adelaide Oval their home-away-from-home in 2010.
Under the agreement an allocation of tickets has been secured for SACA members who will be able to attend the match at no charge.
Three of the NRL's brightest stars Mick Ennis, Jamal Idris and Josh Morris will be heading to Adelaide for the first time in July for the match against the Melbourne Storm.
The Bulldogs, commonly referred to as the 'Family Club', have been the most successful team in the NRL during the past 30 years. Adelaide fans will be asked to adopt the Doggies as their new league team.
The match starts at 7pm.
With more details to accompany the official announcement early next week.

NRL at Hindmash! I'm keen to go and see the Storm smash the Bulldogs. Means I can put my Storm jersey to good use.

Watched Cronulla v North QLD at Hindmarsh last year. Was very good. Thurston turned it on, so it was good to get a chance to watch him in peron for once. Don't know how close the action will be at Adelaide Oval, but at least the ARL are trying something different.

Watching JT live would of been great DB. Can't wait for this match I think it's going to be really good to watch at Adelaide oval. I like the fact they have chosen to play it there.

I headed along (well, it was on the way home from Unley) tonight.

Was surprised to see 10000 there, was expecting half that at most tonight, considering NRL is largely ignored in this state (though it looked like a significant number were parents of the mini leagues pre-game and half-time considering the amount of noise being made during these games).

Have to admit I enjoyed the game tonight. Didn't understand much of the game (I knew the basics, like 6 tackles and passing has to be backwards), but was a good couple of hours nonetheless.

I too was going for Canterbury-Bankstown, mainly because they share the same mascot as Centrals. Also discovered at the end their club song is the same as the Crows!

Had a great night out at Adelaide Oval, and having been a Canterbury supporter for about 15 years, it was fantastic to see them play live and have a win.
Cant wait to see them back in Adelaide again next year :D

I went with a couple of mates and really enjoyed it, even though the Storm lost. It was good to see all the origin players back up.

IMO there was more than 10,000 people as alot of people were let in without a ticket, we just gave the guy at the gate our $20 and went straight in. We got in much faster that way as we didn't need to line up for tickets It was a great move by the guys at the gate, thank you and well done.

Hopefully it's back next year, will definitely go again if they play another game here.

Would there have been more people there if it wasn't so early on a saturday night - with local footy commitments meaning it was impossible to get there ( which i wanted too. ).

I would think maybe a sunday arvo or friday night. Obviously that would have been a disaster the weekend just gone due to choco and the Thunderbirds - but during a time slot that doesn't compete with footy.

Then maybe Adelaide is not the place for the NRL.

Are Canterbury struggling for dollars and looking for a wider supporter base. I would have thought there would be plenty of support in GWS.
