Australian snooker champion Neil Robertson has firmed into favoritism to win the 2019 World Snooker Championship being played currently.
A previous World Championship winner in 2010, Roberstson at age 37 has returned to the form that took him to No. 1 in the world in 2010,13 - 14.
A recent winner of the Welsh & China Open, Robertson has continued his hot form into the World Championship by thrashing Michael Georgiou 10 - 1 and then Shaun Murphy 13 - 6 to progress to the Quarter Finals. With Current World No. 1 Ronnie O'sullivan being a shock 1st round loser to amateur James Cahill going down 8 - 10, the door is wide open for Robertson to claim his 2nd World Championship title and challenge for the No. 1 spot in the World for the 3rd time which should see him recognized as one of Australias greatest sportsman in a sport that has been generally dominated by UK players.

Robertson was knocked out in the Quarter Finals overnight losing to Scottish veteran John Higgins 10 - 13
Resuming last night at 4 - 4 Robertson scraped to a 7 - 5 lead after a marathon 1st session of 4 frames and upon resumption had a great chance to lead 8 - 5 but a missed opportunity followed by a massive Fluke shot by Higgins seemed to be a decisive turning point in the match as Robertsons confidence vanished as Higgins stormed home. A huge missed opportunity by Robertson who had been in career best form this season to progress and add to his sole World Title in 2010.

Trump ended up smashing Higgins 18 - 9 to claim his 1st World title at age 29 and collect the 1/2 million pounds winner cheque
After struggling somewhat in earlier rounds, Trump took it to another level for the Final with some experts describing the standard of snooker played as pretty much the highest ever played EVER

I saw a bit of it on Monday arvo when I was home. Trump's opponent stuffed a shot up, and then Trump basically cleared the table, great skills on show.

The skill of the top players these days is incredible. Often just 1 slight mistake means no 2nd chance and frame over.

Aussie World No. 4 Neil Robertson has just won the 2019 Champion of Champions Event overnight in an incredible finish beating World No. 1 Judd Trump 10 - 9
Trump looked home leading 9 - 8 and had it all wrapped up when on a break of 67 but missed a crucial red. Even then Robertson needed a snooker as well as cleaning up the remaining 6 or 7 reds and all the colours just to force a tie which he did and then he won the frame by potting the rte spotted black. He then went on to win the deciding frame with a masterful break of 137, his 5th century for the Final and taking the 150,000 Pounds 1st prize.

Great to see Aust doing well at something at least
