Hello lovely people O:)

We are taking a very long overdue family holiday late in the year - and venturing to the Gold Coast.

Have never been there before....

It will be Ma, Pa and 2 of the 3 kids (15 & 17).... lol :D
What are the best 'worlds' to visit -
Shall we just visit all of them or are some not 'cracked up' to what they're supposed to be?

Thankyou in advance for your feedback O:)

If you have never been to any of them, and you can afford it, go to all of them A Mum. Different people like different things.

Before you go to any, check their show times etc on line so you can semi-plan your day.

Some worlds you can get cheap tickets through RAA, also scan online for 'specials'.

And get there as soon as they open, the day flies by.

Wet and Wild, Dream World and Movie World will appeal to the kids more..
I highly recommend the Outback Spectacular show for "the Oldies"..

Sorry I'm real dumb on this topic
I'm pressuming all worlds are seperate to each other

Are you saying 1 day per world?

O:)

Hi 'Mummsy',
I'm jealous of the fun you're gonna have, but not of the bills you'll have to pay.
It's been a few years since we took our kids up there, but from memory here goes...

Dreamworld: The Big Drop & The Rocket Sled (not sure of correct names but you'll know 'em when you see 'em).

Movie World: We all loved the Scoobie Doo ride. It's a ghost ride with a BIG difference.
I really enjoyed the Lethal Weapon ride. Keep getting in line until you get the front seats.
I reckon this ride took 10 years off my life expectancy, but crikey it was fun !!!

Wet n Wild: Take plenty of sun-screen. While having a great time you don't realise you're
burning. I'll never go near a waterslide again! I nearly fell out 20 or 30 metres above concrete!
Large people or those battling the bulge should remember what they were taught in physics class
about mass, momentum, velocity, centrifigal force, gravity and collision impacts !!!
:-ss
Middle-aged male bravado has no place on these infernal contraptions !!!
Have a safe and happy trip. I look forward to your holiday report.

Cheers,
SABRE

Only been to Movieworld and Wet and Wild, and can recommend both.

Second Sabre on the Scooby Doo, wicked ride. Been on it at least 10 times now (been to Movieworld 3 times!). Went on the Lethal Weapon ride first up on my first visit, I didn't see much of it because I have my eyes (and every orifice) shut the whole ride! Absolutely psycho! Very glad I was deso driver the night before, my younger brothers were very seedy after that one!

Wet and Wild - good fun. The only criticism I have is that you line up for ages for a ride that only lasts for 20 seconds or so. Plenty of cool places to just lounge around though which makes up for it.

I don't know what time of year you're going, but if you can get there during 'off-peak' times it's pretty awesome. You can pretty much get off a ride and get straight back on it again.

Unfortunately will be peak time :(
But oh well :D

Going by PM suggestions, websites and peoples comments...

I think I've pencilled in Movie world and Seaworld.
And definitley without a doubt the outback spectacular.

We have other 'business' we have to do up there for 3 or 4 days so will only have another 3 or 4 days for the 'worlds' part of it - so I think it'll work out quite well.

Thanks again everyone for your help/suggestions/knowledge O:)

you can buy a pass at one of the theme parks and it can get you into all of them. The theme parks are on the pacific highway to brisbane. Still in gold coast council area but not near surfers etc

If you have time go to the Sunshine coast. MUCH better then goldie. More laid back, better people. Not a concrete jungle as yet. Bout 90kms north of Brisbane follow the signs. You will need a toll tag pass for the toll roads up here, but your hire car if you get one should have that or you have 3 days to pay after you go under a toll.

thats if you use the gateway motorway, logan motorway or the clem 7 tunnel under brisbane if you want to venture to brisbane for a day etc that you will need a toll tag, goldcoast dont have toll roads only brisbane

The Goldy Harbourtown SHITES all over ours :?

The Dreamworld/WhiteWater combo is great value for money and a favourite amongst the members at work - mainly because it offers a family (2A, 2C) which tends to be more financially viable for a lot of families on a budget.

Dreamworld is my personal favourite out of all the worlds because it's got a bit of everything - there is no particular theme to it.

The Warner Brothers worlds charge per person but do slightly discount prices if the fun, escape or super passes are purchased.

For someone as time strapped as yourselves though, you might just want to choose a day at a couple of them.

PS: None of them let you bring your own food, so be prepared to spend extra when you're there!

personally i wouldnt go into any of them seen as no food can be taken into there. Best part of them is when i drive past them every week on the pacific highway. get to see what is not worth its money. Or tho white water world might be the goer

Wet n Wild is my favourite, went again in November last year and loved it. Just opened a new section with another 4 or 5 rides, the teenagers will love it. Also got the Wave Pool and the Lagoon for some relaxation, good spot for everyone.

The Superman ride at Movie World is possibly the best ride I've ever been on. 0-100kms in no time at all, the eyes are watering very, very quickly. The Scooby Doo Ride is also worth it, and like Gingernuts, my eyes were shuut almost the whole time on the Lethal Weapon.

As far as eating goes, there's still an all-you-can-eat Sizzler just south of Broadbeach on the main highway, and the Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of Surfers is also a good spot for a meal.

Harbour Town and Pacific Fair both really good shopping centres, and the Quiksilver and Billabong outlet stoes (right next to each other) are amazing value.
