Where would you like to travel and why?

Postby fisho mcspaz » Tue Jul 06, 2010 6:22 pm

Here's my list:

Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico
Rhein Valley, Switzerland
Prince Edward Island, Canada
Breidafjord, Iceland

I've got the same reason for visiting all four of these places: because they're locations that feature in some of my favourite books. That's definitely a good enough reason for me!

Also would like to visit a small village in France - because I speak French and it'd be interesting to see how I could get by; the Cocos Islands - because I found their history really interesting, plus what's not to love about a tropical island that hasn't been strangled by the tourist industry?; and Lithuania, because that's where my mother's family comes from.
Hey Goose, ya big stud! Take me to bed or lose me for ever.

Well fisho, I visited Anne's house on Prince Edward Island a couple of years ago.

Haven't read the book, but PEI is just a lovely, gentle place.

I'll try to put a pic up.

2 What book was the Rhein valley featured?

Probably more if I have a think about it and I won't count Adelaide cos that's on the way...but three off the top of my head would be...

Grytviken on South Georgia. As Shackleton is my hero I'd like to see where he made his epic rescue trek and pay my respects at his grave. Almost got there when stationed in the Falklands in 1994 but my ah of a boss refused to let me go despite having already worked nearly all my days off.

Lepcis Magna in Libya. I'm quite into ancient history and they are reckoned to be about the best Roman ruins anywhere in the world.

Thomond Park in Limerick. Home ground of my beloved Munster rugby team. The ground is noted for the behaviour of the supporters...heaps of noise during play but complete silence when anyone is kicking for goal.

Regards
JAS

Antarctica. Had a mate who has been there twice, his photos and video footage are absolutely amazing. I just don't think I could handle the boat ride to and from there.

DR Congo. The heart of Africa.

Maybe there will come a day when the country has recovered from the deadliest war since WWII. Hopefully before we've completely exploited the country's resources too.
