Going to get both extremes. Patong/Pattaya in May with mates. August with my girlfriend.
Have to switch hats and instead of looking for the cheapest nastiest accom near bars I have to backflip and find some good priced romantic places.
Anyone got any suggestions, not that I'm in a hurry as I've already got my May trip planned out and can do a bit of scouting when I'm there then.

Had my honeymoon in Khao Lak just over a year ago. Great place with endless sand and clear water.

Stayed in Krabi a couple of years back and found it to be a great place to take the cheese and kisses. Lots of restaurants and access to all of the islands and snorkelling spots.

Stayed in Cape Panwa last November for anniversary and was great. We were at the Cape Panwa Hotel which is a large resort with several restaurants and bars to choose from. Also has it's own private beach, tours to surrounding islands (i recommend coral island), and a great restaurant down near the beach serving authentic Thai food.

Keep your eye on websites such as scoopon and our deal as they regularly have half price specials on Thai accommodation.

Thanks mate. I'm not a fan of Krabi though, thought it was very ordinary.

Krabi looks like the best place in Thailand from what I have seen, and what people have told me.

Really?
Went there with the ex and 2 kids a couple of trips ago and it had ordinary beaches, was riddled with tourists, an ordinary arrray of restaurants.
Only thing enjoyable was the trip there and back as there was some nice islands on the way from Phuket.
I'll be visiting Phi Phi for the 3rd time in August, been to places in Phang Na four times and many places on Phuket, I'd never go to Krabi again. Victor Harbor was more appealing.
Only thing good at Krabi was a cave full of phalic symbols but that was boring after a few seconds.

Yeah some of the other islands sound nice, might consider or two of them.

Just got back. Awesome time in Thailand, hadnt been to the North before but managed to get 3 days up at Chiang Mai, awesome place. The train ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai was an experience in itself. Managed to get over the border to Myanmar for a day aswell. Will definately go back, so much to see up there, need a couple of weeks atleast
