Cheap/Second Hand Building Materials

Postby the big bang » Wed Apr 04, 2012 11:03 pm

Hey Guys. myself and a mate are building a solid/permanent annexe onto a caravan. our plans are quite extensive, it's pretty much just going to be a granny flat type building onto the side of the caravan, including a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

we're looking for cheap and/or second hand building materials. we're wanting to make it look pretty schmik and tidy, as in all aluminium door and window frames be the same color, good kitchen etc.... we just dont want it to look like it's been knocked together in two weeks with whatever someone could find, if ya get my drift.

so does anyone know of any decent salvage yards or auctions that we could get pretty much everything one would need to build what i've described here? factory seconds would mainly be fine, if they've just got small scratches or dents in them. have been looking at the Trading Post and stuff like that, but am hoping to be able to find somewhere for us to go have a look at.

We used Adelaide Rural & Salvage on Hanson Road when we extended our place and they were excellent. That was about 6 years ago so unsure if they are still any good.

Yep Adelaide and Rural Salvage are usually my first choice for second hand stuff, particularly hardwood, corrugated iron etc. Well worth a look.
