Yeah he's hit the wall flat out it seems.
It'll take some sort of miracle with the new chassis to save him.
Very sad to see him go out like this.
If the new chassis doesn't get results he'll resign by mid year break.

Congrats to Lando Norris for his first win, great to break the Verstappen dominance.

Appalling decision by McLaren to invite an 88 times indicted, twice impeached, convicted sex offender and fraudster into their garage.

Happy to see someone other than Max win but Norris realy just fits into the Papley, Sicily mould - you know they're good but very hard to like. Piastri got stitched with the safety car timing too otherwise would have been looking good and was without the full upgrade package. Hoping red bull dominance fades but unlikely.

Charles Leclerc finally wins his home race in Monaco in an otherwise yawnfest where no-one is able to pass, and with the top ten finishing in the same order they started in after the 1st lap restart.

Verstappen 6th after being unable to pass Russell despite being up his arse all race.

Special mentions to Magnussen for his efforts to wipe the back of the field by destroying Checo’s car and also forcing his team mate Hulkenberg to crash, causing a red flag on the 1st lap, and Ocon for destroying his car by his kamikaze overtake of team mate Gasly on the same chaotic 1st lap.

Both of these efforts will likely end their careers at their current teams.

Said to my boy before the race starts,

"the only way Monaco is interesting is if there is bad weather or a big shunt in the first lap."

Watched the crash, saw the absolute mess the track was and the red flags, and that was enough for me. Off to bed I go.

The race is always a yawn fest.

Perversely, the 1st lap red flag made it worse as everyone could do their mandatory tyre change and then follow each other for the next 76 laps to the end.

I wonder what the odds for a first lap red flag were?
Watching Piastri holding off Sainz for the last few laps was pretty good. Other than that yep it's a snooze fest.

Checo has been abysmal the last few races … so Red Bull extend his contract by 2 years

Lots of seats to be decided with Sainz, despite one of the best on the grid, may be held out to dry by not being picked up by one of the top teams.

Sainz >>>> Checo.

Jacques Villeneuve shoots his mouth off again, says he doesn’t know why Riccardo is still in F1, and is only there because of his image rather than talent.

Nec minnit, Ricciardo qualifies 5th at the Canadian GP, ahead of Tsunoda, Sainz and Checo.

After securing fifth on the grid for Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix, RB driver Daniel Ricciardo hit back at criticism levelled by 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve earlier this weekend.

Speaking on Sky Sports' TV, Villeneuve questioned why Ricciardo was still on the Formula One grid, he said: "I think his image has kept him in F1 more than his actual results."

The Australian's qualifying result in Canada -- just one day after Villeneuve's comments -- was his best of the year for a grand prix and his second best overall behind his fourth place grid slot for the sprint race in Miami.

Asked if he had sent a message to Villeneuve with his performance, he said: "I still don't know what he said. But I heard he's been talking s---. But he always does.

"I think he's hit his head a few too many times, I don't know if he plays ice hockey or something. But yeah. Anyway. I won't give him the time of day, but... all those people can suck it!

RIC will want to back up that qualifying session in the race before getting to ahead of himself. Track seemed very up & down so grid not exactly true pace of cars. Hoping PIA can beat NOR out of turn 1.

Agree

Riccardo has won here so knows the circuit well.
Jacque's ass kicking may have helped a little but not a lot.
He's a pro and knows he's still got it.
When it really mattered he beat his team mates.

Well a bit of controversy but glad Piastri got his maiden win. Norris just a typical whinger, at least he respected the teams decision in the end after being clearly favoured by pit strategy (again) and knowing prior to the pit stop he would have to relinquish the position. Bit of a sour note but hopefully many more wins to come for Piastri.
As for Verstappen, I'd forgotten how reckless he can be when not in a car that's streaking the field. Didn't take long for him to revert to his previous ways, and how's the radio comms - not much love for the team from mad max.
Ricciardo, well RB screwed his race which was disappointing given qualifying result and timing re red bull seat media storm.

Norris displaying the typical whinging pom.
He should've redressed earlier then chased him down if that was how confident he was.
He knew Piastri was faster so just claiming a moral victory like his cricket countrymen.
It's brilliant we have another F1 winner for little old oz.

Dan's race sucked. Why they pitted him so early was odd?
Swap Dan and Perez for Spa.

Verstappen, and his dad, for that matter think it's all about Max.
Horner telling him to stop being childish was pretty telling.
