I’d prepared myself for a life without a cruiser, but then literally two weeks after selling the Valiant picked up a real decent deal on an old wagon.
So after a years of kidding myself with a project, early next year I should be out and enjoying the streets with the family wagon. :D

Update, I’m not sure how something can be shipped 1700kms in 3 days via two depots and then sit in the final depot for 4 days plus (I’m waiting for the call) so it can travel the final 11kms…

Hey MilkyBarKid are you aware of the updated club rego scheme? I wont put details here but the smasa site is a good point of info.
Im so happy to now have a couple of cars rego'd on club rego rather than collecting dust in my shed. $90 for 90 days per year.

I think so, I have my MR334, going in Wednesday for the VIN check & then the log book, hopefully it’s happy days after that. My old man is in the SCCSA, so he helped me out there.
The new rego is heaps better, what are you running?

Yeah the new rego scheme is awesome as both my cars (79 Transam and an old landcruiser troopy) are modified so i could never get the old "historic rego". Used to rego them and get a couple of drives in a 3 month period for ~$200. Big thanks to the people who pushed for it thats for sure!

I was very impressed with the set up they had & used their site for a heap of tidbits on getting Classic rego.
I would've used them, but already had the contacts. Anyway, rego achieved yesterday, just in time for the holidays!

After 2.5 years of not having the car registered because of roadworthy issues, I've got the car back on the road, thanks to my mechanic who is a genius.

I obtained conditional registration for my car for 3 years. It was $246 for the three years, plus $65 club rego. So now I've got 90 days motoring each year till I have to re-register.

This new system is brilliant!

Saturday and Sunday were my first days of driving my 'new' car. Still hard work but great fun!

Will be. Still lots of work to be done. You can't see it from the photos - because I took them close to the ground, but there is a gold flecked roof which has layers of lacquer that needs to come off. Plenty of spot rust too, seats need reupholstering, but it's a runner and I'm glad to have it.

Holden will be axed at the end of 2020, ending 72 years of the brand's automotive association with Australia.

Holden's global parent company General Motors has decided to retreat from right-hand drive vehicles internationally, informing Holden staff and dealers at midday today.

Approximately 600 of 800 jobs will be lost, including workers from Holden's design studio.

The remaining workers will stay on to service Holden's ongoing warranty commitments.

In December 2013 Holden announced it would cease production of vehicles in Australia and transition to an import-focused business model.

In 2017 the last Australian made vehicles – the venerable VF Commodore – rolled off the line at Adelaide's Elizabeth plant.

Currently Holden imports General Motors vehicles into Australia from its sales headquarters in Port Melbourne.

Holden is also supported by a national parts distribution centre, a global design studio and its traditional car proving ground at Lang Lang.

Can't say I'm surprised. The consumers gave Holden the big f. you after they left manufacturing in Australia.

Exactly, plus they weren’t that good for the price they were asking.
Having had a couple of generation of family work for Holdens at the Port and at Elizabeth it’s kind of sad but it is what it is
