Holden, ford, Benz, Nissan plus at least one other manufacturer. Cars to an extent. A few control parts. Too many control parts of you ask me.

Very similar to NASCAR, Standard chassis with the manufacturer's engine block and body shape bolted to it.

thought toyota was entering.

are these cars going to match the current V8 cars and speeds?

Its not going to be like say the holdens/fords are in the same race as slower cars(if these cars are going to be slower) who are competeing in their own race, like different classess in one race?

Engines will still be V8 so no there won't be different classes. Nissan is using a V8 block from a petrol model Patrol , Mercedes will be using one of their AMG V8 engines adapted to Supercar specifactions

Going by the Erebus & SBR news articles the plans have been 12 months in the making as they had to get approval from Germany even though ze Germans won't be tipping any dollars in at this point purely customers of the AMG Racing organisation

SBR will thus put an end to its partnership with Ford, which began when the team was formed back in 1998 and that resulted in three championships with Marcos Ambrose and Russell Ingall.

"Leaving Ford was not an easy thing to do, but as car markets change here in Australia I felt the time was right for a new challenge and with Ford's mutual agreement we have decided to part ways," said team owner Ross Stone.

"We will be racing a Ford Falcon for the last time at Olympic Park in December and will see out our contract which ends this year.

"I'd like to thank Ford and all our supporters for their backing and we now look forward to entering a new era of racing with Erebus Motorsport."

The three cars will run 5.0 litre engines with the AMG bodywork over the Car of the Future chassis.

Bully, Chrysler will be the other manufacter from the rumours I hear (teaming with Garry Rogers Motorsport).

Sorry Dog_ger, no comparing Fords & Holdens on the world market as it will be a very control series. Similar to NASCAR i'm guessing, but probably with less passing & with the big money teams still up the front... Hopefully it shakes the series up because right now (apart from the Sandown weekend) the series & races have been as boring as bat ****

It is believed that the COTF will be faster than the current V8SC's.

Awesome news....cant wait for next season now.
The team with the biggest budget is the team that wins ...mostly.
Its getting a powerful, reliable engine, and the nous on knowing how to get the car to hook up on the track on any given weekend.
I think this is the best thing v8 supercar have achieved yet.

Whilst this is true, this year it's just been Vodafone v FPR, no other team has won a race. It's predictable & boring...
In pretty much every other series there have been multiple race winners.
I hope this shakes the series up & makes it interesting again because it definitely needs it.

The way the rules are set up, the cars have pretty much have the same specs anyway.

Also as it stands, Holden use Ford parts and Ford uses Holden parts.

The car of the future will be the same sort of deal. Everyones pretty much on a level playing field, but the teams with more money to throw at development will ultimately come out on top.

If the Mercs are running DTM type machines, they'll do very well. Also Nissan races in the Super GT in Japan and the FIA GT1. If their V8 Supercars are anything like the ones they run in those competitions, Holden and Ford are in a bit of trouble.

Im a Ford man, and I think its gonna be a tough year for the Blue Oval next year.

I think next year will be very similar to this year early in the piece with Vodafone & FPR still dominating, maybe with HRT as well.
These are the only teams who have currently finished & have started testing their COTF. Putting them 3-4 months ahead of the competition.
As a Ford fan too, the big worry is when the Falcon becomes obselete (looking likely with current sales figures :( ) and ultimately factory support is dropped.
