15km run yesterday in Belair NP...longest since the 105km race. Been having some calf issues since the race that hasn't settled but feeling back to normal again. Looking forward to ramping up the distance again

For those that think I'm crazy doing 105km... an event just finished running 200 miles from Murray bridge to Clare. Last runner came in at 99hrs 50 min when cutoff time was 100hrs. Madness.

No they didn't follow the bike trail only, but I think they did parts of it. Yeah they sleep along the way. Just found out the dude mentioned above was in hospital for 3 days after!

I did the 53km distance at the same event this year and definitely didn't come 2nd! Just looked him up, cracking time and not much longer than mine

He's a machine, does 20km's to "turn the legs over". Lunatic.

Don't worry, there are stupid people like him out there still...
100 mile races are common overseas, now 200 mile races with over 10,000m vertical gain are common place.

Did my first Half Marathon today at the Salisbury.Run

Furthest I had run before was 19.5Km a couple of weeks ago so knew the distance should be ok and just wanted to break 2 hours.

Well I finished at 1:51:08, I knew I was tracking pretty well as my split times were really good but was still shocked that my time was that good.

I am in a world of hurt tonight though. Knees, hammies and a nice blister on one of my toes, which has come as a surprise.

Was good fun and am looking at doing another couple in the rest of the year…

Well done!
Yeah race time always quicker than training times.

Might bring this thread back to life momentarily. Plodded along and ticked the Yurrebilla Challenge off my bucket-list last weekend. The 28K version. Really enjoyed the majority of it, was certainly feeling the pinch going up Black Hill towards the end. Very well organised event with a different vibe to any road/city events I’ve done. Some the times recorded for the 56K are insane, especially given it was quite a warm day.

Does anybody have any events coming up?

you've come to the right place ;)
I've done the 56km six times. Not last week though...both severely under trained and f..k that heat.
Orchard track in Blackhill is awful no matter how many kms you had before it...and Morialta would have baked in that heat.
Are you looking for another event to enter?
Heysen race is next month. Anywhere from short distances to 115km. Finish line is in Victor Harbor. I've done the 50km and 105km versions, and it is a great event, not as hilly as Yurrebilla.

Six times..impressive. You're right about the exposed climb out of Morialta baking in that heat.

No, nothing in the short term MW. Cricket season takes over now, which sees sore joints being nursed, and an increase in beer/pub food consumption.

Will aim to do the 5 Peaks (26km) in April if can maintain a reasonable fitness base until then.

I've hiked the vast majority of the Heysen from Cape Jervis through to the Barossa over the years, so perhaps down the track might look at that event. 105km...jesus. How long did that take you?

15 hours. Long story, but kms 40-70 were very slow as my mate had an illness, was hallucinating and needed to nurse him to the 70km checkpoint.
5 peaks is practically yurrebilla in reverse as you probably know. You've picked the right direction and distance for that one, except for the climb out of Brownhill Creek and first part of the Belair trail...yuk. I might do it also, I need the dangling carrot of an event to motivate me.
There used to be a summer series of races that Trail Running SA ran, but think they have stopped it.
