Did the half. Only the second time I've ever run more than 15km (last year's half being the first), so its safe to say the last 5 or 6 kms were a battle. Improved on last year's time by about a min, but was hoping to go a bit better.

A 10k run, a 6km golf walk is far enough

Did anyone brave the conditions in McLaren Vale on the weekend?
I was 3.5 minutes outside my PB when I was expecting to beat it by 2 minutes...shocking conditions to run in.

Nice one. I'm slowly building up my distances. Jogging 7 k comfortably now. Will get 1 x 10k in before Kuipto. Will be happy just to complete the journey!

Well I survived my first trail run. Found it very different to my normal road runs. Really needed to concentrate on where I was landing my feet, would be very easy to roll an ankle. As it was there were a couple of "stacks".... I did to 10k, some steep hills in the route. Set myself the goal of 1.10.00.... finished in 1.08.35 so pretty happy with that. More so as I played cricket Saturday and was a little sore going into the run.... not to mention a few beers after the game didn't help matters!

Well done mate. Kuitpo is a great place to run but definitely gotta be wary of the trails.

Warning:
The only one of my old Woodville High classmates who has died so far is Brenton Norman, a well known local distance runner.

He developed Parkinson's disease and a progressive dementia and rapid physical deterioration thereafter.

Current medical research suggests moderate physical exercise is good for you and even in old age can prompt growing new brain cells, but excessive exercise damages the body and the brain.

The dilemma now is working out what qualifies as "moderate" and what as "excessive"...
