so all the poms are now moving to Horsham because of the restrictions. Werribee is on stage three and Geelong is on stage four.

That pipe they blew this week has been trouble free for over 100 years. if they had decide to replace the pipe last month you would of had people complaining about them replacing a reliable pipe, when some newer pipes have had multiple breakages...

Full sympathy to all those suffering under water restrictions.
I'm seeing it here - with our irrigators only getting 60 per cent of their allocations.
They may drop to nought next year - then we'll see how tough it really is....I hope it doesn't get to that.

Totally agree Phil. It's interesting to look at where other communities are at with their preparedness to suffer or not as a result of the drought.
Our state government has been slow - but is now doing the right thing with the water restrictions (three hours sat/sun as of NY dayfor sprinklers). I'd hate to see it go to the next stage. But it don't look pretty.

Just got back from a trip via Blanchetown, Renmark, Mildura, Swan Hill, filled up at Serpentine, Bendigo, Melbourne, Ballarat, filled up at Tintinara & home to Norwood & if people don't think that things are bad, then they need to wake up & smell the dead roses! The main reservoir that Melbourne relies on for its water is holding approximately 39% of its capacity, at the start of summer! There are lakes everywhere dotted about the countryside that normally at this time of the year have locals swimming & skiing in & on them that are bone dry! Things are pretty stuffed unless we get the "rains of all rains", & then I hear some old twat on the radio complaining that she can't wash out her friggin' dog kennel! Well, me ole luv, unless yer dawg learns to drink dust, you won't need a bloody dog kennel soon! Happy New Year..........

P.S. if anyone is interested in fuel economy, my car consistently returned a fuel consumption ratio of 50 litres for 850 kilometres, sitting on an average of 110 km/h with 3 people & luggage. Vive La Renault!
