Australia Day!

Anything!

As with music, and lyrical content - I think it's safe to say that you can get out of music what you want to get out of music.
Regardless of what the artist meant, if it means something different to you - that's a good thing.

That's how I am with public holidays.
I take a day off on Australia Day with pride. The issues of "It's more a NSW date" etc doesn't affect me. It's a day off for ME to celebrate the great country where I live.

As for Easter, and good Friday - I have the day off because, well, work is closed. I am not religious one bit, but the state of play is that our country's calendar system, work hours, et al, mean that many businesses are closed.

I'll have a BBQ on Good Friday - BUT - only if I was having one anyway.

On Australia Day, I go to the cricket as I have done for circa 27 years. JB, like you, I resent losing our Test. We used to get the triple-header of ODIs as well, but one of those was taken from us. However, that is where I'll be and SnaggedTeeth, I'm a wanker(ette) Member but can inform you that I've done my time in the trenches! :) Year after year on the concrete over the other side. Earned my stripes, shady seat and full strengh beer. :D

Mr MK goes to a JJJ Hottest 100 Party which it's our turn to host this year so I'll be leaving one mess for another. After last year's number JJJ No. 1, I think the countdown will be turned off at a certain point and swapped for a CD.

As with others on here, Anzac Day means more to me than Australia Day but I do love my day at the cricket.

Please don't think i'm picking on you MK ... just confused with your use of "circa"! Never seen it used that way.
Always seen it used when referring to a date in time, not a length of time.

Ie, I've been going to the cricket circa 1979

But i'm probably wrong :)
