Some kid who looked to be 15-16 walking down Victoria Road at 6:15 in the morning wearing shorts and a Ocean View Shirt.

When I saw him I thought, gee he's keen to go to school, but he must be freezing his arse off.

He was probably was just stoned off his face and was so out of it he didn't realise what time it was or how bloody cold it was.

Driving down a main road and looking to my right and seeing a bloke in the car next to me in a white shirt with blood splattered all over it.

I didn't hang around long enough to check the body in the boot.

Many years ago one evening walking down Victoria Drive at the back of the Uni of Adelaide I saw a dishevelled older bloke surreptitiously "scanning" passers by with what was obviously a cigarette packet.
After watching him for a while I concluded he was probably one of the many untreated and unsupported people with chronic Schizophrenia wandering in the community, and that to him it was something like an "alien detector".

In my work in those years I'd come across that sort of scenario fairly often after the long-term residents were turfed out of places like Hillcrest Hospital into the community, where their new "freedom" meant nobody ensured they got their needed anti-psychotic medication, nor regular meals and healthcare.
