The next Falcon ?????

Toyotas and Mitsubishi make cars in Australia, they may be Japanese owned, yet Ford and GM are both American, so what is the difference?

Racing is about winning, being the best. If we are going to have touring cars, then have the fastest and the best. That is what people want to see. If a Japanese Shit Box smokes a Holden Commodore so be it, let Holden develop a car that can smoke them back!

That is cool dude, but there is more to this argument than just could this car beat that car.

The main reason they will not let them in the competition / Toyota and Mitsubishi have not tried too hard to enter the cometition is that since 1994 the controlling body have been working on a thing they call parody. There has be ALOT of testing, developing etc of the two cars so that their average lap time around any circuit is as close as posible. The two cars now are virtually the same, it is becoming very much like NASCAR.

For example,

Both cars run a solid rear axle with the competition version of the Ford 9inch diff.
Commodores now run an adapted version of the Ford front wishbone suspension.
Falcons have now run the same "bumper bar" aerodynamics as the commodore for over 10 years.
Both cars run a 6 speed Holinger gearbox with fixed ratios and both cars run the same diff ratios. Infact they are told which diff ratio to run at each track by V8 Australia (formerly Avesco).

There are many more similarities that keep the two cars vertually identical performance wise.

I like the idea of a third or fourth manufacturer but it will not happen. The goal of the organisers competition is to achieve the same level of performance from all makes of cars entered. I don't think that it is fear of being beaten by an Aurion or a 380 that has made them defend their competition from outsiders, it is more to protect their investment in what has become the best Touring Car Championship in the world. 8)

Toyota and Mitsubishi come in, and Holden and Fords profit from the V8 Supercars gets cut by 50%
why would they want anyone else in?

until either company starts running a Road V8, there is no argument.

Could a Supercharged Aurion beat a V8 Supercar? I would say yes, based on the fact that they use Conrods and are restricted to 5.0. The Aurion would be lighter and have a significantly more technologically advanced V6 engine with a huffer on top. The Race Tuned version of the Aurion should be more than enough to take a V8 Supercar, their problems come with adapting to Front Wheel Drive, yet that is not so much of a problem in the European series, so I think it would be fairly easy to over come.

Totally irelevant. Formula one teams could build cars that would flog their current cars, but they are also restricted by a "formula".
You could tweak up a Falcon turbo that would make the Aurion look like a slug, but if you're talking V8 Supercars, whats the point, neither conform to the formula so can't compete in that series.

It is a tough looking car, but not as tough as it looks, couldn't even survive 1 meet as a safety car with the V8's before it had to be left in the pits and replaced with a Commode
