That is cool dude, but there is more to this argument than just could this car beat that car.
The main reason they will not let them in the competition / Toyota and Mitsubishi have not tried too hard to enter the cometition is that since 1994 the controlling body have been working on a thing they call parody. There has be ALOT of testing, developing etc of the two cars so that their average lap time around any circuit is as close as posible. The two cars now are virtually the same, it is becoming very much like NASCAR.
For example,
Both cars run a solid rear axle with the competition version of the Ford 9inch diff.
Commodores now run an adapted version of the Ford front wishbone suspension.
Falcons have now run the same "bumper bar" aerodynamics as the commodore for over 10 years.
Both cars run a 6 speed Holinger gearbox with fixed ratios and both cars run the same diff ratios. Infact they are told which diff ratio to run at each track by V8 Australia (formerly Avesco).
There are many more similarities that keep the two cars vertually identical performance wise.
I like the idea of a third or fourth manufacturer but it will not happen. The goal of the organisers competition is to achieve the same level of performance from all makes of cars entered. I don't think that it is fear of being beaten by an Aurion or a 380 that has made them defend their competition from outsiders, it is more to protect their investment in what has become the best Touring Car Championship in the world.
